  1. I'm referring to Anets official (1st official, might I add) statement concerning the lags. Find it here:

    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/111982/an-update-on-game-performance-issues

"We're aware that some players have been impacted by ongoing gameplay performance issues due to latency. We know this makes for a frustrating gameplay experience, and we want to let you know what we're doing to find and mitigate those problems."

So you are aware of that and have been silent for months? You know that makes for a frustrating game experience and didn't find it necessary to give us a heads up until now? You tell me how this kind of behaviour is supposed to build trust in you and how you view you customers.

"The reality is there's no single sweeping change that can fix latency issues for all players, or even most players."

The reality is that the customer wants a product that at least provides minimum functionality. On some maps this isn't the case since months. The exact causes are something that probably will never get revealed by you guys. I may be totally wrong here, but given the fact that these performance issues mostly occur on maps that are (severely) underpopulated it could be that there are also economical reasons for the whole performance problem. But that's a totally uneducated guess on my side - *of course*.

"...members of our Engineering, Infrastructure, Design, QA, and Production teams are working with a group of affected players to help identify underlying causes and find solutions."

Since when? If you're already working on this issue for a longer time, then why the heck didn't you let us know? The existence of problems is nothing bad, being silent about them however is. Whoever is responsible for your communication rules with the community actively hurts the customer relationship.

"We’ll keep you updated on their progress as we’re able."

What could make you unable to keep us updated?

  2. It's not lags... it's surprise mechanics. It's just that the surprise is gone, dear people from Anet. If - and that's an assumption on my side - you need the performance for WvW map cap testing and other performance tests, just say so. If it would be too expensive to rent more server capacity from AWS, just say so. I'm quite sure people will understand that WvW needs some attention finally. If only they knew. And people want to know if that whole thing is temporary or permanent. Is that why you keep radio silence about this? That your new policy is cutting less played maps so short on performance that they are unplayable? Are you not afraid that you are literally ruining your reputation by saying nothing?

  3. Yup, with the latest patch you cannot even manually summon your pet if you do a pounce dismount (skill 1 on mount) on enemies and are in combat mode. So the latest patch does not only disable pet swapping, merging and unmerging in combat, but also makes the pounce dismount unuseable. Things like that happen when a company does not care about bugs that are in the game since the introduction of mounts which was in** September 2017**. Chapeau!

Apart from that this is also a good example why competitive game mode balancing should be strictly separated from PvE/Open World balancing. As far as I am informed, a huge part of the latest patch is done by a former PvP hardcore player. So the person in question probably didn't even know about the mount pounce / dismount bug that despawns minions and pets. So the situation rangers find themselves in now is entirely Anets fault, not the guy who did the balance patch. And it was so foreseeable. That is bugging me the most. And I don't even play ranger as main.

  4. Dear people from Anet,

in my humble opinion now is the time to do something about the above mentioned bug concerning the obvious server sync problems when it comes to the mounts in combination with minions and pets. With your latest balance patch the following situation will now occur for many players (as I just experienced it with a soulbeast character):

    - you enter a map, summon your pet

    - you get on your mount and pounce dismount on an enemy or a group of enemies (pouncing is not even necessary, normal dismount also shows this bug)

    - the pet doesn't appear

    - now, with the latest balance patch, you cannot resummon the pet because your character is in combat mode

I see what you tried to achieve by omitting the in combat pet swap and merge/unmerge, at least for competitive modes. And don't want to get more elaborate on the balance patch. But with the patch now being there, it is finally time to address the server issues affecting the mounts in combination with pets and minions that lead to the problems described in this thread. See also my posts above.

I see that bugs occur, I really do. It's just how it is. But that problem is going on since PoF release and has a massive negative impact on combat gameplay. And you're literally letting it sit since September 2017. With all politeness I can muster I suggest you finally take care of it.

    Regards,

    an annoyed player

  5. EDIT:

    Forgot another problem:

The action cam. Often times when you have an enemy perfectly targeted (i.e. the enemy and his health/break bar appear in the upper middle part of the screen just to be clear) and you perform attacks like

    - Reaper Shroud weapon skill 2 or

    - Ranger (no matter which specialization or just core) dagger 3 or

    - Scrapper hammer 3 or

    - Renegade double sword skill 3

the attack fails. The reaper bursts right through the enemy or misses completely (though as I said the enemy was properly targeted) or, in case of the renegade, the attack doesn't trigger at all. Dagger 3 for the soul beast has a tendency to completely miss like the Reaper Shroud 2. In short: The action cam does seem to have a huge problem with proper enemy targeting. Normally this cam is designed in a way that you need to face an enemy to target it, but when that doesn't work, a right mouse click can target the enemy manually, but even then the attacks that make the character jump at an enemy in any way often fail.

I know that the action cam was a pet project from one of your (former?) devs and he or she made it off the clock, but since I'm not the only one using it, I thought I'd bring this to your attention as well.

  6. Dear people from ArenaNet,

there are various (probably server-performance related) issues that I urgently need to bring to your attention, so I'll get straight to the heart of the matter:

1.: Soul Beast: When you perform a mounted pounce attack on an enemy and you had your pet activated before but are not merged with it, sometimes the pet doesn't appear after the mount pounced and you must re-summon it. Very annoying when you are in combat and are not planning on merging with the pet at that stage.

2.: Any "minion-intense" necro build, any specialization or just core build: When you mount/dismount your mount (no matter which one) in quick succession, your minions despawn with full cooldown. Problem seems to worsen (i.e. the time you need to wait until you can mount again increases) the more minions you have activated. Server sync issues? Please fix that, it makes minion builds unplayable if you're not playing at snail speed anyway. My internet connection's fine, so is my onboard NIC.

3.: Sometimes, especially with the scrapper, the player character gets stuck in combat state after having killed an enemy (no matter which one), though you have no aggro on you from another enemy, no condis are on the character, weapon is sheathed. Sometimes this lasts for minutes if you just wait for it to end. A workaround obviously is to kill a random mob, that refreshes the combat state that then may wear out normally. Or logging out to character selection screen and back in, though both workarounds cannot be a solution to the problem imho.

I must admit that I'm baffled that I haven't read about these issues anywhere or seen content creators on Twitch or Youtube talk about that. Also there's sporadic disconnect alert windows popping up without the client actually disconnecting from the server. Means I can close the alert window and all is fine (makes combat even more dynamic... just joking). On the other hand, sometimes there are lags that last for more than 2 seconds (can't activate any skills) that would suggest that the game client disconnected, but after the lag is gone all is fine again and there's no DC windows message popup at all.

All of the above seems to worsen over time. I've been watching this since the PoF release, and it's getting worse. Please, please, please do something about it. It makes combat - the part of the game that you want to be dynamic and fluent - less and less fun.

    Greetings from Germany,

    Lars

  7. I've upgraded my BIOS and chipset drivers to the latest versions. Was just a wild stab in the dark, but it **seemed** to have helped. My former BIOS was just 3 months old. The chipset drivers were slightly older. How can that be? Not one piece of software giving me troubnle, neither did the hardware, but just that one game crashed? One community member mentioned a Microsoft update (kb4346084) being responsible in his case for the ctds:

    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/81246/guild-wars-2-close-itself-randomly-in-2-15-minutes-after-win10-update-kb4346084

This microcode update addresses the Sceptre exploit for mainly Intel CPUs, but Microsoft installs it anyway even if you are on an AMD rig. In the following weeks multiple follow-up updates from MS addressing the same exploit followed - perhaps those contributed to the exacerbation of the game crash issue? Anyway, reading about these MS updates made me look for a new BIOS / new chipset drivers. Which **seemed** to fix the issue. I'll keep you updated in case you're interested.

Perhaps those of you guys who are on a Ryzen sytem should try that as well.

  8. Same here. Now that you mention it, the whole problem started on my side after the latest M$ update as well. Seems to be something bigger going on. Heard complaints about that all over various maps in the chat. My guild mates are also struggling with the CTDs.

    In case of interest: There

    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/79280/game-keeps-crashing#latest

is another thread about that very problem.

  9. Same here. Short freeze, crash to desktop. Completely random. No crash log update. RAM is ok according to memtest. NVidia Graphics driver is updated to the latest version. Game files are repaired. I deleted the game cache, checked temperatures of GPU, CPU core and case - everything ok. No new software installed. Not using any addons (like arcdps) anymore. No problems with ANY other software or game. Just GW 2 crashing. Same happens with some guild mates of mine, complaints about this very issue are in various map chats. Happens across all maps. Anet: Fix this please. We all put up with the - friendly speaking - poor performance of this otherwise good game, but this crash fest reminds me of early Skyrim days.

    OS: Win10 x64

    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, not oc'ed

    RAM: Corsair DDR 4 2 x 8GB, not oc'ed

GW 2 is running from a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB

    Please, Anet: COMMUNICATE WITH US!

    Hello Daddicus,

    thanks for the answer!

However I'm afraid the cause of this bug must be something else since the character in question is in full ascended gear. But I have opended a support ticket today. Let's see what happens...

    Greets,

    Ratrace
