Here's my human scrapper.

Tested tormenting on condi mirage and it has no icd. So with a well timed burst you ca go from zero to 100% in a few secs flat. Mostly it depends on how fast you can apply torment on target/targets.

Honestly i like the torment on axe instead of confusion. It's better after the latest patch, and you can still dish out decent damage, condi wise. I'm saying this from a wvw perspective.

If your torment is cleansed you can reply it pretty fast, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Also the frogeman armor set works. Combine CoF and SE(sorrows embrace) and you might get something like the forged armor.

To be honest, toxicity comes from many sources (aka self-entitlement, superiority complex in online environments, etc.). One method to deal with it is to ignore it, or just treat it as a tv commercial. When you know you did your best and know how to take a constructive criticism and ignore the self-entitled pricks you can get a decentish life in pvp.

Just adapt to the enviroment.

With deadeye if you take your time, you can breeze through the story. Use whithraw and roll for initiative and you are golden.
