In the Newer maps you'll notice Norn and Charr in heavy armour and using two pistols ( the charr can also be seen providing might to allies).

When you say 'This community' you do not speak for all of us. I for one welcome any change that is made that may or may not change the way you play or prepare for an expansion. Anets been rather dry on information about this expansion for a very long time.

I believe this game has had major profession overhauls mere months before a release. I know it has happened in other MMO’s. Release of concept art is enough to get people pumped! Even if its subject to change, its content for players to hype up about. Look at FFXIV, they announced their expansion and slammed in the new class in the announcement right away, sure they have probably got more content to work with that they can show... but something is better than nothing. Anet needs to pull out that proverbial thumb out and start building the hype else the expansion could be as good as dead/dying on launch with only the current active players buying it but no returning or new customers.
  4. All honesty and being blunt from a personal side. When we have had personal story involving say the Skritt, Kodan, frog men or dumb whales I've had very little interest in them, they always felt like a tacked on factor to the story. Id rather the game focuses on the core races and gets it right, then focus on every single race making the story wafer thin. Knowing how anet will do it will be the ham fisted way like the introduction of the dwarves... 'Oh look dragon attacking, WOW! Dwarf people are here and instant allies, with no build up, no real introduction to them or backing.' This kind of story telling is jarring and feels really weak. If this is how it will be telling the story of lesser races, then there is no point adding it to the game as it weakens what Anet got right in the previous story telling.
  5. What would be really nice... If Anet does decide to give players 'housing' to have a shelf where you can display items, stuff you've collected or completed. Would be a really nice touch... buuuut I doubt we will ever get it.
  6. I find classes such as Thief, Ranger, Ele use them all the time. Ele has a big use for water field into blast combo's However some of the other classes are in the dark with combo's. The warrior as an example here, many many finishers but next to no fields other than torch, bubble and longbow. Personally id love to see combo's reworked to become something more meaningful than say, 3 might.
  7. I'll never understand the Gw2 preview window. It is a shame you can not zoom in and out, or even move the camera. The other part I can not understand is the fact that the menu can be reflected onto the preview window (seriously some weapons can reflect the menu). Since the menu is reflected, this suggests to me that the menu is another overlay (like a 2nd version of the game running at the same time), if this is the case then camera controls could in theory be added to the menu system, allowing you to zoom in and out, or even moving the camera up and down, see the FFXIV preview window as a key example here.

To be honest, I didn't see them needing another ranged weapon for mainhand pistol since they already have rifle for regular damage and longbow for condi damage, and zerker got the torch offhand. It seemed redundant to add a mainhand pistol in that context. > > > > What the warrior lacks and is the only core class that never got, is a 1 handed ranged weapon. This will bridge that gap, both mainhand and offhand. Whit hits the weapon master mark and the missing weapon type. It will also allow a vast number of builds to come about as a result, offhand only would be tricky as it would need to offer a lot more than Torch, Shield and Axe for people to even consider it. > > > > If say offhand pistol is trash, you still have mainhand pistol to play with. (Better have two options than just one). > > Good point, but i was seeing it in terms of how much better it would pair with mainhand skills. I wouldn't be against the pistol itself being the mainhand weapon, but dual pistols always rub me the wrong way because of how impractical IRL they are, plus it just feeling...off...for warrior in general, since soldiers would be using a sidearm regardless, with dual-wielding pistols as more of a rogue/thief purview. As for what it offers, it's a good hybrid damage burst for the 4, and what basically amounts to a second attack skill for the 5 ability, raising their dps up a good margin. I could see it pairing with all the mainhand skills well. I think part of the reason why they limit warriors from 1 handed range weapons is because of how powerful their 1-handed weapon abilities are; proposing it as an offhand weapon keeps the potential power curve of the weapon down a bit, since running dual pistols or mainhand pistol seems like it could get out of hand pretty quickly IMO. > > And I do like what you have to say; it makes sense, but I'm mostly just being cautious about power creep concerns given how OP many of the elite specs have been on release day, and the subsequent nerf hell they go through before coming out to being better balanced. Best to try to avoid that at the start. Say on the lines the elite spec could go the 'bounty hunter' route or the 'commando' route, both would fit the Duel pistol approach. Having it a duel weapon approach is more fitting as there is less chance to mess it up. All I can say, is that I hope Anet does not dissapoint in terms of picking a weapon which fills the slot that warrior lacks in. And overhauls the entire animation / skill system to be more updated with current times.

The ship has sailed for Anet in terms of broad advertisement and promotion of the product. It is too late to generate hype for a game which is 9 years old. If the expac brings people in, it will most probably be old players who left at some point and may want to return, GW1 factions fans who will return for the nostalgia and maybe players from other MMOs who want to see what this expac feels like, so they can compare it to their main games (as tips and ideas for future releases). > > > > > > I believe we were all surprised when they even revealed that they had an Expac in the works, but that most probably happened because players started getting quite dissappointed after Jormag Rising and the worst had yet to come in the form of Champions. > > > > > > For what it's worth, I wouldn't mind at all if they posted teasers that may not even be the actual thing, but would be enough for us to speculate on. > > > > > > P.S. Although it feels oddly appropriate for 2012, when the internet and youtube didn't generate as much hype ( I assume they posted it on YT?). Anyway, there is a big possibility that they may still be in early development? That's why we don't get teases? It's february, so if they want to release EoD within this year, I imagine they may want for us to be hyped just before the release? Fr I don't know who is in charge of their amrketing team... > > As for the animations, I can't speak a lot about the other proffessions, but you see how Primal Bursts and daggers/skills on SPB have those nice visuals and then you got all those dead swings from core weapons with no beauty at all...One can only hope. That trailer was embarrassing even for 2012 lol. An update to the EoD page, or even the main page of Gw2 would work. teasers of artwork on the new elite specs would get gaming websites talking. If they leak a tiny bit now, it would start the hype train for those who still havent noticed that there is going to be an expansion this year. Also you know who the marketing guy is... Mr Poncho man, who would rather sell you Pop Viynls than market the game. Sadly way too many of the skills share animations with other classes, its quite horrible seeing the same animation 6 times over on each class. one that deffo needs a change without question is Flurry (sword burst).

Rifles and pistols would historically be used by the main hand for combat, none of this Hollywood stuff with offhand shooting, good luck hitting anything. Being that Anet is unlikely to use a mounted combat system, I would stand by my 'weapon master' comment, it will be both off hand and mainhand. This being said... I'm actually glad that you're not another 'staff warrior' speculator! haha. Warrior needs pistol, its going to provide it with the things its been missing for years.
