I actually tried the free trial for 3 days and am now thinking about getting it permanently. Is was nice having 160 ping compared to 250+. What is weird though is a few years back I never really had such issues will input lag due to ping. What happened?

  2. I stopped playing last year, things were getting stale with out of control damage and boon stacking. I have recently been informed of the new balance patch which got me interested in coming back. Saw the changes to Warclaw and have reinstalled. It seems as though they are starting to listen to player requests.

I am sure many would have liked the warclaw gone all together (never gonna happen with all those gem store skins), but I think they have managed to make somewhat of a compromise as it still give a big advantage just not as big as before.

Can't wait to jump in and try out the new changes.

Oh, and what can Anet do to get people to come back? Release alliances perhaps?

  3. Would be nice if attacking a player (engaging in combat with a player) refreshed participation. Sucks when you wanna keep trying to kill someone who you just can’t beat but have to give up because I gotta go down a sentry or lose out on rewards.

As much as I want alliances to come out, these build templates have helped me in WvW to switch build quickly for bad match ups. This, however, shouldn’t be possible to do I think. Perhaps only being able to change builds inside a friendly objective is a necessary change.

Right now it’s just two hot keys while I’m on my mount and away I go.

  5. I’m no expert in any game mode but I do cruise the forums quite often. The changes mentioned in this post and the PvP post are all things I have see other players talk about as well. How the changes will effect things I cannot say (not experienced enough to comment) but it is promising to see that voices are being heard!

I havn't roamed for a while so I don't know if it is still a thing, but deadeyes used to be great for sniping solo roamers, but you knew when you were marked and could time a dodge to avoid the damage. Heralds can trigger a skill that converts damage to health, many classes have evades or ivulns which, when you get into the timing of things you can learn to instinctively use to save yourself from being bursted down.

Sometimes people are just so good with their build it doesn’t matter how well you play, you just can’t beat them. There are also good and bad match ups. Can’t win them all.

Though I am still a little pessimistic after WvW being neglected for so long, ANet does seem to want to tackle the issue of balance and have actually started communicating.

I arrived literally one tick too late to contest, then stood in the newly enemy camp and laughed at the other player as he cowered outside on his mount, refusing the 1v1. I thought of this thread and wondered if this was the kind of forgotten courage the OP is longing for lol . . .

We can't blame anet, they've already made fighting as free from consequence as possible. So what can we, as players, do to discourage this reluctance . . ?

Agreed! I am not very good but never back down from a fight. What’s the worst that could happen? I die, re spawn and am right back to it. Practice makes perfect... A LOT of practice in my case

  8. Stun locks suck. There is too much cc going around which is too easily accessed. You use a stun break but then get another cc so you use another stun break but here comes more cc. Even if you have stability, if it is more than one player those stacks are gone instantly, which sucks for professions who do not have a lot of access to it.

Being immune to cc temporarily (no experienced enough to specify a time) after using a stun break would be nice. Sometime I wonder why I even bother slotting stun breaks.

  9. The best advice is to pick a profession, pick a build that fits a style you like (stealth, melee face smash, ranged etc) and then stick with it. Like actually stick with it. Find out what it can do, what it can't do, what match ups you really must run from. You are not going to be able to win all fights and you will eventually be able to adjust the build to fit your own play style as well.

I personally play a hybrid (power/condi) longbow /dagger dagger soulbeast. It sure isn't the best build out there but I have made it work for me and I enjoy playing it. No one expects condi burst from a soulbeast with a longbow :)
