    > I just came back recently too, but I didn't have any characters to 80 yet -- my highest was at 69. I made a new character first and played her to 20 to both remember mechanics and get used to the way the new specialization systems work. Then I went back to my main/highest and worked on Personal Story and map completion until I hit 80. Then I went to HoT areas to get my first gliding mastery. I just finished my personal story day before last. I've been watching the Living World Season One movie on Youtube and plan to start Living World Season 2 as soon as I get through all of that. (It's 3.5 hours long!)

I definitely recommend what Tairgire has done. You'll miss a lot of important info and practice with game mechanics, otherwise. This also allows you to determine what portions of the game you enjoy playing, and how, giving you a place to focus as you continue on from there.

  2. The 1 skill is the **default** auto-attack.

You can set **any** of your skills to be the auto-attack by pressing **cntrl+mouse 2** on the skill you desire. It says as much in the pop up text for the skills.

Be aware of cool down times when choosing your auto attack. ;)

You can also disable the auto-attack by pressing this combo again.

A very helpful thing to know when using environmental weapons/tools, performing the guild races, etc.

  3. I regularly solo champs and quite a few legendaries on my ranger main. THIS fellow was ridiculous. I rage quite for the first time ever in this game (1 hour and 45 minutes of trying to kill each other), after many years of playing it. Finally looked to the forums for help, and found this solution. Should work for ALL classes. Here's hoping the real issue gets fixed.

  4. #Emotes

These are a great way to add some flavor to your play and interactions. For a complete list, check this link:

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emote

For even more fun, try them out while transformed:

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_transformations_with_animations

    Bonus tip:

If you have a large character (especially a maximum size Norn or Charr) and are struggling with Jumping Puzzles, use a tonic to transform into a small create~ It makes a whole lot of difference! You can check the link above to see which tonics make this feasible, and experiment on your own as well.

  5. #Chat Box

Here's some detailed information on the **Chat Box**, to help you understand and make the most out of it. =)

What the text colors denote, what channels are available, a bit of miscellanious info such as how many characters in a message:

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chat_panel

A complete list of the **Chat Commands** at your disposal:

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chat_command

    Have fun!

  6. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I should have been more clear. I was only responding to being able to do it with a small team. :C Very sadly, I do not have a regular schedule atm that allows me to offer assistance outside the forums, and I don't want to leave you hanging with an open slot that looks full. I do wish you much luck, though!

    > Every time I've been in DS, no one was running the meta event at all, so if it's that dead before PoF, I have little hope of seeing more than a few noxious pods around the camps. Trying to finish my Bo staff achievement.

It's very likely that you were in overflow maps. Check the LFG (looking for group), it's a good tool and it can get you onto the maps that are active and filled with others.

  8. The above is great, but you should also recommend to your friend that they start a 2nd character, and level it normally when not playing the new content with you. This will help them learn the game and their own playstyle within the game so much more easily and with so much less frustration than strictly from a straight-to-80-and-end-content character will.

  9. I'm sorry to see you having difficulty getting your question answered!

I deal with carpal tunnel myself, and for PvE solo play I enjoy the core Ranger. The ranged distance and tanky pets allow me minimal movement during most combat, and I don't feel like I'm playing the piano with my skills. I'm also consistently able to take on group events with little to no assistance, have had no difficulty with Story, and can take down vets, many champs, and even a few legendaries solo. I'm not face-smashing or mud stomping anything, of course, but I am holding my own with minimal wrist ache.

That said, the more recent the content you are playing, the more groups, constant movement, and "piano playing" becomes necessary.

I suggest looking over your key binds, there may be set ups which will be more comfortable for you than the defaults. Also be aware that there are multiple options available to make your character -move-, so you can avoid cramping if you get comfortable with at least two. AWSD and holding both mouse buttons are the ones I usually cycle between.

As far as Builds go, there are a couple of sites that can help you with that.

Hope this helps, and Welcome to Tyria!

  10. The wiki is as current as you can get. :)

I've got a lot of helpful information collected here> https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/784/helpful-starter-tips-for-new-players/p1

that I recommend you take the time to look at as soon as you can. Could save you a lot of time and frustrations.

As several others have recommended, I also suggest you create a second character and level it naturally. There are a lot of tips and advice and so on that will show up for you during this process (that won't doing your personal story as an 80), and it will provide an orderly feel to the world that is otherwise lacking from straight to 80 to end game content.

Settle in with us, make a home in Tyria. ;) Only the monsters bite.

  11. #Food

Any of the Holiday foods, in fact, are superb and offer greater experience boosts, and come in various levels for access by all.

I personally really enjoy and recommend these for my lvl 80s when I'm working on masteries.

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Peppermint_Omnomberry_Bar

    Nourishment(30 m): +30% Magic Find

    +40% Gold from Monsters

    +10% Experience from Kills

    +10% Karma

And with food, you can also use a utility booster, such as this.

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tin_of_Fruitcake

Nourishment(30 m): Gain Power Equal to 3% of Your Precision

Gain Power Equal to 6% of Your Ferocity

    +10% Experience from Kills

    +10% Karma Bonus

And then atop that, you can ALSO use one of these boosters.

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Booster

    All at once. C:

You can check out all the foods, sorted by the type of boost they provide, here.
