In terms of casting animations in pvp staff is the biggest offender. with things like dragon tooth in scepter also having a delay in damage. Typically the skills do more damage but have obvious tells to compensate. As it should be. Alot of older weapons are stuck being part of vanilla gameplay. Staff and scepter are good in pve where the enemy doesnt dodge roll or move out of damage as often. > > Why did they nerf power? i know weaver used to be good at killing but i don't remember seeing that many core eles being a problem. and should the aftercast on lightning whip be changed? In Feb of 2020 they nerfed all damage 25% air autos dont do enough damage or you are too glassy to trade blows while auto attacking. The attack hits twice with a small aftercast. Its fine how it is. Power weaver is a solid option if you do lightning rod. Power core d/d is possible if you have experience, but frustrating if you havent mastered the profession. The damage core needs exists with berserker amulet, but there is no active mechanics to deal with staying alive. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAgilZw4YesNGKOSTVLNA-z5YXGRWAZmAGPA This is my recommendation for core ele. Can run balthazar rune too. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAgilZw4YesNGKWSTVLNA-zZJsMisAyMBMZA For power core i run this. Swapping to air before a burst will get you to maurader level damage with the healing power to sustain fights. Dont recommend for new players. Could run marauder if needed. I have other builds for tempest if interested too

  3. Join a casual pvp guild. Join the pvp discord and try and get a coach to help you. Block the try hards. Its not their fault mommy didnt love them enough
  4. Decap druid allows bad players to think theyre good. Hence this entire post.
  5. If you want to have the most impact on your team without relying on teammates too much then play a roamer. You can do your job as a duelist on point or support at mid and still lose because of bad rotations by your team.

The only version of ele that is passable is weaver and that only because its duel skills scale way beyond any thing core or tempest has in both dmg and support. > > A 15 sec duel skill hits harder then churn as well as any overload. At the same time that duel skill has both a healing bit to it from barrier something that even tempest cant do as in healing and attk at a real level at the same time. > > The balancing for the ele class IS A JOKE. > > Anet hates ele so much that the non eleish version of ele is the strong version of ele. Whats your issue with tempest? And the scaling of damage on weaver is pretty similar to core from what i see. Dual skills are just overloaded with utility.
  7. As a roamer not as good. I still think it has use in a duelist role and +1er
  8. Tempest is fine the way it is. Core is weak in terms of stats available to them and uptime of protection. Weaver needed the shaves. It allowed them to get away with mistakes and recover too effectively. Switching to weaver rune if you hadnt already will be the new status quo.
  9. > @"KelyNeli.4516" said: > Oh and adding a salt to the wound. > Why does ele doesnt have a good ranged weapon or a reliable and fast aoe with it? Why is this class forced to go melee range, when it dies by a single hit from a boss of any sort? Have you ever seen a mage in ANY game out there in the world that would be completely useless when using a mage weapon - a staff? I never did, but i guess guildwars2 and its developers tried their best to make the class design of this game make absolutely no sense at all. > Not to mention, majority of the skills on the hotbar plays no significant role to the gameplay, while other professions has skills packed with utility buffs, mechanics and more. Elementalist? All he has is some damage, some condi, have fun. Jesus this profession sucks. > Staff sucks cuz of wvw nerfs. Try fresh air tempest with glyph of storms. https://snowcrows.com/raids/guides/elementalist/tempest/power/

  11. 1.Make use of terrain so they cant steal into you. 2. Wait for stealth, count to 3 and then mitigate with protection or dodge. 3. Eliminate backstabs by spamming air auto while spinning 4. Discourage getting close with lots of aoe damage. Its really about trading blows outside of stealth. What build do you use?
  12. If the goal was to reduce the ability to stall nodes than this was a good patch. Wish they buffed things instead of nerfing all the time though

I started out with Marksmanship when I began exploring power ranger, but it was before I appreciated how the attack of opportunity and opening strike mechanics worked, and it could be that I chose the wrong traits. The glass canon build i used (using the gear in my original link) actually used Skirmishing. It's got some nice damage, but I'll try out your build. > > I did notice you've got more defense built into your gear than I do though. Guess we'll have to see how good my positioning is using my gear on your build, or do you think I'd be a fool if I didn't use tankier runes and consumables to deal with condi pressure? > > On a related note, I stumbled across some #MRGA videos using a variety of builds that feature a+a/s+wh, or a similar combination. It looks to me like it's usually using WS, SB, and BM at least so,e of the time, but the gear isn't glassy. Is this likely some boonbeast variant? If so, do you have any thoughts on it? > > Link below (it's a super fun video), and thanks again! > > Maybe. Nature magic isnt a requirement for boonbeaast, but it does help keep boons up. And you need reliable condi cleanse or immunity in any build imo
  14. If they are making specilizations based on the current state of the game i doubt we will see one at all
  15. > @"Paradoxoglanis.1904" said: > Well i tried playing the squishiest of the squish, zerker ele as a LR sword weaver. Still was having 2-3 min fights and stalemates all over the place. I think i have narrowed my issue down to people using their heal skill. It seems to be making fights last a lot longer. Interrupt the heal. Recognize if their heal skill is up and if they fall below the 50% health threshold. Boon rip is an effective way to deal with tankier duelists. Maybe try a sw/d deadeye and build as a duelist instead of a roamer.
  16. > @"Svez Poizon XD.5268" said: > People complain about barrier but please, it has 50 sec cooldown and it decay after short time, it is an melee imobile class that you have problem with because it is only good in its 1 think- being an duelist on node. This is more like troll post. Barrier allows mistakes to go unpunished. If anything stone resonance needs a cast time so it cant be used wihile cc'd
  17. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?POgAMFlRwAZPsQGKOeXrP7Sm2bA-zVIYRU9fIZKF6VB0yIQgHkw4vliMjA-w Your missing out on alot of burst not taking marksmen. Charging into a worldy impact will poop on people. Follow up with hilt bash and maul. You have an all in build without the all in damage. Bit weaker condi cleanse here so kite often until your burst is up As far as ele goes. They are weak to ranged pressure if not running focus. Kite them out and wait for an opportunity to burst into them. Stunning them while water overloading is ideal. If you heavy pressure them after leaving water then they lose some ability to recover. 18. Dont use an amulet and lose every fight in 10 seconds
  19. > @"Stallic.2397" said: > If they nerf weaver in Pvp I feel like core might be a good side noder. That's if the fotm players ever get sick of playing Tempest Core is a solid home point duelist and anyone that says otherwise needs to get good. Core does need some buffs though. Offhand dagger needs buffs too. Firegrab does the same damage as burning speed, but a conditional modifier, 10s more cd and harder to hit. 20s cd and more damage is fair. Cleansing wave could be 25s. Updraft could be 30. Churning earth and earthquake could be 25s. That alone would bring core back. They would need to nerf tempest and weaver traitlines before buffing others to bring core up.
  20. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAgilZwuYYsM2JOqPnpcA-zZwKBpHA This build looks like it would be op on paper.
  21. > @"Stallic.2397" said: > Nice builds. I tried core D/D for a few months not too long ago. Fun but difficult for sustain. Signet of fire is the bread and butter of this build. Got to plat pretty easily. Yep. I figured my uptime from cantrips was enough. Signets are great. Wizards might be a better choice though. Its hard to run signets with 1 stunbreak though. Water signet is good with -condi duration runes. If cele amulet was still a thing i could see a full signet build working.
  22. Support could work just not as the traditional heal bots you see. It would probably be a boon bot with quick access to might and fury. Giving them access to low CD group stability would really shake up the wvw meta. Another unique thing they could do is provide access to dark aura, which is an underused mechanic. They could have a trait that would also reduce condition duration by 20% with dark auras or something. a Main-hand warhorn that maybe pulses a dark field on the 3 skill and then a secondary attack that changes into a whirl, blast or leap finisher depending on the offhand. The 2 skill could be an aoe that damages enemies and applies dark aura to allies.
  23. Ring of warding should be 24s and banish 12s. Hammer is good as long as its not your primary damage source. Symbols and traps for instance. The CDs are just too long right now. The entire concept is about trapping your enemy in damage and knocking them around so its pretty much useful every 30s.
  24. Kind of hoping for a beast master that can have both pets out at once and the ranger loses 10% of base stats to increase pet stats by 10%. Hammer would fit nice. Or a scepter to act like a whip. Personally I want OH sword.
  25. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PSwEcEWoMB2BrjxxOxR26tZD-zRIYhipBPC+HA-e rune is your preference. Feel free to play around with traits. That is gonna give you the most solid dps increase with decent lifeforce generation
