  1. This is the problem all right. By the time you have spent enough time on the map to unlock the missions, you (or I, at least) will have no interest in going back to get the mission completion. Really poor game design imo, and a recurring theme lately.

  2. After soaking 3 Heat Stones in magma I took them to Luron the human baker on the lower road. He accepted them and asked for 10 bloodstone bricks. I retrieved five from inventory and crafted another five. Upon return to Luron the swine pretended he'd never met me before. There is no way to advance the human side of this collection at this time. According to the wiki the following conversation should take place, but it doesn't. All I get is an offer to sell me his wares.

"I brought the Bloodstone Bricks you wanted.

Excellent. Let me finish putting this together, and I'll have it delivered to your home. Go on, now. Leave me to work!"

  3. Check out Axios yesterday - most people in the U.S. think social media sites should be regulated. I'm on a VPN right now, have never belonged to a social media service and fight a (probably futile) fight to keep google at arms length. Some of us take our privacy seriously. If an MMO breaches my privacy it is probably because of people who think they should be able to because "hey everybody does it".

  4. The Privacy Policy explicitly invites users with concerns about data storage to submit inquiries to the email address privacy@arena.net In attempting to do so I received the following bounceback:

"Your message to privacy@arena.net couldn't be delivered.

The group privacy only accepts messages from people in its organization or on its allowed senders list, and your email address isn't on the list."

Please confirm that the address on your website is accurate and properly configured to receive external mail.

  5. I don't care about cheats and bans because it has nothing to do with me. But I do care that Anet surreptitiously took information about running processes (which for me includes network flow software monitoring every capable app on my system) and removed it to their own servers. They have not told us exactly what was taken, whether it has been stored securely, or whether it will be deleted. This will remain a questionable act, ethically and legally, until Anet explains itself.

  6. 1. Relying on a five-year old overly broad and absurdly one-sided license Anet planted spyware on my personal computer which scanned and recorded all running processes on said computer and then transmitted that data to its own servers over the internet in a process which may or may not have been inherently secure. This was unprecedented to my knowledge. I was given no notice. I was not given any opportunity to opt out by deleting their software or by any other means. This spyware existed on my computer without my express permission for x days until it was apparently deleted.

    2. The amount and type of data collected has not been described. The retention method and security of that data has not been described. The period of retention has not been described and may not be limited.

This act was a breach of my privacy for reasons of apparently marginal commercial benefit to the company. The collection and retention of such data may put me at risk for a further breach of privacy if Anet security is compromised.

  7. Been using a Logitech F710 for nearly five years now (wore one out). It can be programmed and works well once you get it fully set up. I need the keyboard for only a couple of F functions. The raptor for some reason is kinda twitchy but doable, and the other mounts are fine.
