  1. Wat, you people have to be kidding me. Defender Advantages: Portal Access, can weave in and out if low, can stealth behind portal. As long as your group isn't complete trash you have infinite tries to stealth bomb. Can Repair Walls Glide Closer Spawn advantage; some objectives are not conquerable without a massive numbers or skill gap because the defender can just endlessly run back. Of course, this is not true regarding southern objectives without a way point and oh dear you have to use strategy. (the horror!) Closer spawn point also means that some defenders can leave the structure to counterattack something else and then just go back to spawn--> keep when needed. If it takes them 5 minutes to break in, you don't have to just sit there in the keep for 5 minutes. You have 3 minutes to backcap something else or break a wall elsewhere. Emergency WP Mortars Guild stat buff Banners (actually a good change to make them strictly defensive. ) Supply Drop Lord that scales with numbers and can be ress'd Attacker Advantages: Can periodically pull inattentive players off walls, which can just respawn or develop reaction skills faster than potato. Can rally off guards More rewards Defending is boring
  2. 10 2: Firebrand, Med Scrapper, Power Herald, Aura Tempest, Curses Scourge 3: Firebrand, Med Scrapper, Power Guardian, Support Warrior, Curses Scourge 15, add 4: Firebrand, Med Scrapper, Support Chrono, Support Warrior, Power Reaper 20, add 5: Firebrand, Power Herald, Aura Tempest, Immob Ranger, Curses Scourge More than 20, add per group: Firebrand, Med Scrapper, Curses Scourge and w/e dps (Berserker, Power Guardian, Bomb Engi, Pole DD etc.) Tag is either FB or Chrono. Scrappers switch to power if not enough damage.
  3. It would be nice; that spec was a mistake. And yea we'd go back to core/DH as Guardian support was so indispensible that it could only be outdone by itself. However, it would take a lot to nerf Firebrand to the point where people don't use them anymore, since stability is essential and no matter what you say, nobody is taking in Stance Share Dolyak Soulbeasts sadly. There was a point where Guardians were somewhat marginal, and that was at the start of the HoT when stability was basically useless and everyone did that awful pirate ship meta. So that's not a solution. The only true way to make Guardians not indispensable would be to put diminishing returns on CC so that stability isn't as required. > @"Dawdler.8521" said: > It'd be funny if everyone switched to DH and relied on other sources for support. Can you imagine the meta *hell* of zergs with ~15-20 trappers dumping spinning swords everywhere? Oh look an enemy zerg lets pu**FWOOOMP** *25 people instantly died from traps the enemy zerg already has off cooldown*. Lol, we're heading that way.
  4. I'm genuinely curious on why people think being spawn camped is a disadvantage. It's not like other games where people can immediately kill you when you respawn-- that's why spawn camping is hated in these games. Here you have all the time to relax and you decide when to go out, and also retreat back to complete safety... You can even pull people into the legendary defenders. it's only bad if you're 1.) massively outnumbered (can still get cheap kills) 2.) go out one by one or squirrel and tunnel vision after a blatantly obvious toon that's meant to draw you out. 3.) Running a garbage build that can't survive one hiccup. 4.) Don't know how to select another map
  5. Useless is not the correct term anyways. More like "offmeta" meaning it doesn't fit into preferred comps by guilds that run a bit smaller and have limited space. There can be things that are objectively strong such as immob druid (which if you believed OP, doesn't work), but it's not considered a standard thing however it can still see play in groups with some more slots. Immob is the obvious counter to superspeed and also a reason why Tempest is preferred. And I have been certainly immob-locked and hit by 7k meteors with 2700 armor once in a while so "useless" is probably not true. Yes, everything is useless if everyone plays perfectly, but that's the point here-- not everyone plays perfectly and sometimes people get caught. Even me! xD The game's balance is pve trash, but it does have a little more variety than many give it credit for.
  6. Maybe 5 years ago.... Now the population has shrunk too much and communities have gotten too insular. Basically, if you consider that few people care about Gw2 these days, and multiply that by the fact that few Gw2 players care about WvW, then....
  7. The first thing you should do is not be a liability, so pick a build with good survivability and mobility. If you come in here with all zerk and die in 0.01 seconds, nobody will want you around. Fortunately, survival gear can be bought at like 5g for a set of the TP or something. There are also stat selectable warlord armor boxes you get from WvW as well. Also run cheap dodge food for more survival: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Can_of_Meat_and_Winter_Vegetable_Stew (5 badges, from wvw provisioner) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Meat_and_Winter_Vegetable_Stew (2.49s off the TP) The second thing to do is just kill guards to keep your partcipation. If you kill guards near an objective, you get credit if it later gets taken by your team. I have gotten keep capture the next day. Depending on how good your EB is, you can also maintain participation by escorting Dolyaks (note that will only prevent you from losing participation. You may also repair SMC walls, or if you don't have SMC, usually a tower on your side is being trebbed. However, bring supply from camps, instead of draining the actual structure. Otherwise you may piss people off. Also if you don't own smc, throw down a catapult near it (as close to your side as possible), and people will almost always join you to kill guards and fight whoever comes out; of course you should be ready to run if the enemy gets angry. Red BL shrines are often a good idea, as well as Red BL in general, because it's not very well liked and thus less people out to stop you.

If that were true, than DPS guard would not be the rage now (sword of justice suffers from similar problems). And necros? There's plenty of boon strip around to counter stability. If you really want to balance. superspeed, you would just make it a boon that can be stripped. > > > > DPS ele is not preferred in organized groups, because it does not provide any group utility and has poor self sustain, thus it needs to be babied, and instead people would rather baby a more potent rev, power guard, power engi, or necro. Certainly, the damage nerfs should be reevaluated in spots as well. > > DPS guard is indeed all the rage because sword of justice does massive damage within 1 second and punishes healers with low reaction time, while Lava fonts and whatever need 6 seconds (with correct fire traits) to reach maximum potency. The CC, misplay and stunbreak duration are all super short compared to ele fields. > No, one tick of SoJ isn't really that damaging. It comes more from the synergy between Symbolic Avenger and staff 2/3 which for some unknown reason does a ton of damage. You don't need a full channel of meteor storm or lava font either. I can hurt people even with a few hits. Regardless of your dps build, range isn't useful anyways as most bombs happen within 900 range (the same as necro stuff, for a reason!) The thing is that DPS guard can bring its own stab, group stunbreak, and condi clear. It can also easily keep up unscathed contender thanks to itself and firebrand support. Other builds like DPS engi brings its own condi clear as shredder gyro clears lots of condis in a field and the ever needed stealth/superspeed, and dps rev brings lots of stability and even damage reduction. Even if DPS ele matches or exceeds their damage, they bring little else to the table. Their own stab is lacking and survivability cannot be enhanced except by taking selfish utilities. Btw, you aren't wrong that other damage classes being in a bad shape is also why dps guardian rose. But that's more about the massive damage nerf patch, nerfing all damage regardless of context for classes.
  9. Too many leeches/semi-afk farmers. Just go cata a wall of SMC and kite when the enemy comes; when people die enough, it'll clean it up. Warning: You may get raged at.
  10. > @"Gotejjeken.1267" said: > For those who think WvW isn't toxic, clearly you have Team chat off... i actually have team chat off most of the time , but more because it was more useless than anything else ("inc" on team chat?) , except for memes. But I wouldn't consider some bickering and politically incorrect talk to be toxic, or not for long.
  11. DPS ele is not weak because people aren't staying in AOEs.

Point is rose colored glasses.
  13. > Don't you guys miss the meta where stab 1 and stab 2 had to coordinate with each other? No, I don't care for 40% guardian parties.
  14. Ascended is like free in fractals almost. But there's no comparison, since I crafted all my legendary armor from the fractal gold...

I've never seen a messaging system that lets you message people by blocking them. Or have that utility to track people down with block list. It's pretty stupid-- blocking is two way. > > > > And yes, I personally save salt whispers to post to everyone, but some of you need to respect that not everyone that plays the game has that kind of mentality. Btw, if I didn't solicit your communication, treat it as talking to me in public. ;) Btw did you know someone tried to threaten me with legal action because it was illegal to talk about their salty pms in private that was like 10 years ago though and none happened. xD > > > > The thing here is that I think it's funny to go to such lengths to block someone, add name, and then whisper. But that's because the system is stupid that requires that sort of tryhard effort. > > > > To bring this into relevancy, I think it would be good if people had more control over how they receive message and that can benefit everyone involved, regardless of how many iamverymature.txt's get posted. And it would make sense to allow cross-server whispers as a feature, instead of such a stupid workaround. That way people that like salt whispers can receive them more easily, and the carebears can do whatever. But I hope you know which way most of this game's population leans. > > > > The only counterargument is the ever ubiquitous "but it would take away resources from other things", but of course that even assumes that any are put towards WvW to begin with. > > > > > @"Strider Pj.2193" said: > > > So.. now I can only guess you are trolling. No where did I defend the toxic behavior. You really should post it in the general discussion thread. > > > > > > Good luck to you. > > > > > > > > Do people really salt whisper in pve? What would there even to salt whisper about? > > > > I guess kicks? > > You get the random gold seller and person who will critique something. > > But the point is the mechanism is one in the game as a whole.. As you well know, The WvW forum section is one of the worst sections (maybe only sPvP would be worse) for getting supportive feedback for something like this. > > I was suggesting that because it’s a GW2 game mechanic, it might gain whatever traction it could in the general discussion section. > > But that got turned into Me supporting the behavior... I mean, I don’t care if I get whispers. I am not good enough to really trigger someone anyway so.. > > Yea, mostly asking about the pve stuff and making fun of the people who take it too seriously; the other conversation I had no interest in.
