  1. That's why i only play Elementalist with full Celestial gear to get benefits of ALL 4 atunements. Dmg is just slightly lower than Marauder or Trailblazer (20% maybe?), while i can also do nice healing, direct dmg and condition dmg. It's a lot of fun when you can play ele with all 4 attunements. If i pve i use Fire, Air + X most of the time or, depends of weapon, Fire, Earth + X, in WvW i use Earth, Water + X (usually Tempest).

  2. Glass cannon FB(full Viper's or Sinister) is too complicated for my taste and way too squishy. I can only play it with full Trailblaizer or Dire gear. Dmg loss is maybe 15% - 20% while your survivability is increased by at least100%.

  3. As a casual player i swear on condi builds. It's so much easier than power ... Power builds are complicated as hell (most of them), if you miss your great hit/s you are pretty much done, which is not a case when playing condi: you can simply reapply them over and over again and you can do it from safe distance with ranged weapons in most cases. Condi builds have better survivability(most of them, especialy in OW and WvW) and easier time to deal dmg, what else do i need?

Why should i play a glass cannon Reaper, if i get constantly killed within 5 seconds, if i can simply play a Scourge, killing one player while tanking the dmg of another one? Or why would i waste my time with power guardian, if i can do everything 3 times better with core condi Guard or bunker guard? Condi core Mesmer and Mirage are another examples: when i barely do any dmg with a power GS chorno, i can do way better dmg with condi + better defensive tools.

I would say, condi and bunker builds are much easier then dps power builds, at least in my hands in solo queues. There are few exceptions, off course, such as condi Berserker or condi Ranger: they are both on a weaker side of condi builds while Power LB Ranger being the easiest power build.

Not my fault if condi and bunker builds are way easier then power ones: i simply don't have a time to learn all this complicated power and group support stuff. I like simplistic, non group oriented playstyle and 1 vs 1 fights.

  4. I really dislike Axe on my freshly dinged condi Firebrand and i was wondering if sword could be a good replacement for it? Or a core condi would be a better option in this case? Something like Sw/Torch + Sc/X? for all kind of stuff: open world, low lvl fractals, maybe some WvW ... I also have in mind non glassy build: maybe Carrion in combination with Rabid ...

  5. I am sure that meta for ranked and/or organized groups is completely different thing than meta for unranked and/or unorganized groups. I was wondering what specs/builds works best in unranked/solo queue pvp?

No idea why, but from my experience i have been doing better with core specs in unranked pvp solo queue. Condi PU core mesmer (Sc/Torch + staff) is on top from my exp, survivability is great, dmg is ok, stealth x 4 times and clone spamming are by far the best defensive tools. Condi Axe Mirage is ok too but i feel a beet weaker "thx" to one dodge. Next condi core Necromancer or Scourge and core Guardian: both condi and bunker are performing better then DH and Firebrand, at least in my hands. When i enter pvp with my Reaper i get destroyed immediately and i have absolutely no idea why i am always a nmb. one target. As Scourge at least i can survive longer and help my teammates. I have some mediocre success with Mender Tempest and Weaver: survivability is great but dmg is really low.

Can't comment on Engineer, Ranger, Warrior and Revenant, because i don't play these professions.

I am sure that majority of a PVP player base only/mostly play solo queue and unranked PvP, but i can't find any info about what professions and builds work best there.

    Sorry for English ...

    >

    > mmmm...Not trying to be snobbish, but literally almost any build with a bit of cleanse given that the player knows the basics of kiting and not facetanking.

Not in unranked PvP. No idea about ranked, cause i don't play it. I created a lvl 2 guardian two or three days ago just to get some fun in PvP and been playing core condi builds (because Firebrand codi sucks) and , o boy, i destroy everything with zero effort, including Rangers. Rangers drops super fast, if not Druid spec. Burst dmg is just insane and almost no one cleanse my burning: i guess people don't play condi cleanses in unranked. Anyway, i am done with condi guard: no challenge, it's just way to easy destroying everything 1 vs 1. I feel like a cheater.

  7. PvP is still a thing, especially unranked PvP is very alive, while ranked is a bit ... messy. But WvW maps are completely empty. I can barely find a squad maybe once per a week. Most of the time i am forced to play solo or with 2 or 3 more people, which doesn't suit my playstyle, because i am not kind of a roamer. I have no idea why no one plays WvW these days ...

Ranger's LB alone is not enough pressure to kill a Mesmer with 2 ranged weapons and 3 x stealth. Also bunker builds, such as Mender Scepter/x/Staff Guardian or condi bunker core Necro or Scourge (staff/scepter/torch) would have great chance to win. All Profession that can equip two ranged weapons would have an advantage over those who can only play with one ranged weapon, such as LB power ranger.

    > scepter has 900 range and not 1800 that lb has, ambush and autoattack miss at long range too. staff has no damage whatsoever anyways.

    >

Well as i understand "the rules" in this fight you are free to move as close to your opponent as you want to, right? so no need to stay at max range. I guess you won't be staying at 1500 range, if your ranged weapon has 900 range? You can come as close to your opponent as you want to (he/she can't keep you on max distance for more then a few seconds), the only rule is: no melee weapons. So you can actually fight in melee range with your staf/scepter. I have no trouble killing LB rangers with my condi mesmer usually, even if they can also use a GS. In this kind of fight they are limited to LB only, with exception of Druid who can play with Staff and LB, not sure how this fight would end.

  9. Is swaping weapons allowed in your scenario op? I mean if you can play with two ranged weapons? If yes, then condi Mirage or core Mesmer with Scepter and Staff wins with easy.

Edit: btw, who would win if only melee weapons are allowed? Any idea?

    > Basically, guardian will win against anything that tries to go toe-to-toe in melee range, and will lose against anything that can stay at 600+ range spamming range attacks

Well, Guardian can do crazy dmg with Scepter (both Power and condi), which is 900 range. And most Guardians run Scepters/X as secondary weapon set these days, so staying in a 600 + range might not be a guarantee to win.

I would like to see a LB ranger who can kill a Scepter Guardian, even if they both use only ranged weapons. No way. Scepter dmg (especially the condition one) is higher than LB dmg + Aegis, blocks and other defensive tools guardian can bring on.

  11. I know this game is not about 1 vs 1, but anyway, i was wondering, if there is a profession/spec that stands a chance vs Guardian 1 on 1? i have in mind ALL kind of Guardians: DH, FB, condi, power, bunker, healing, all weapon type, with exception of Staff maybe. These guys are extremely tough, even if they play a "glass canon" builds, such as GS + Sw/X. I just can't think of any class that can take down a bunker Guardian, so i am more interested about a class that can actually take down a non bunker guard. As a bunker guard, your survivability is on pair with Mender Tempest d/f or Mender Weaver, but you do way more dmg than theses two elite specs.

Or maybe i should ask in on this way: is there a better dueling class than Guardian?

  12. Thy for your replies, guys. I am doing just fine with Viper (+ 2 Trailbalizer trinkets) in OW. Versus some tougher elite monsters i just swap to Staff from axe. Also Scepter single target burst dmg is just insane. There is no need to farm Trailblaizer gear for WvW because every time i enter WvW i barely see any people there. Maps are so empty ... I could do some solo stuff but i am not really interested about that. So i will just focus on open world and some low lvl fractals.

  13. Is Toughness a completely useless stat? I don't see any benefits for taking Toughness over any other stat. If i take a gear with 1000 Toughens, for example, i don't see for how much i get dmg reduced. 10%? 17%? 22%? Please, Anet, could you add the exact numbers? Why do i have to do a math by myself? We get exact numbers with ALL other stats, with Toughness being an exception for no reason.

Lets take a look at Guardian Sword. With base 1000 Power the sword Auto attack deals 158 dmg (in PvP). With adding 1000 Power the dmg rises up to 315. The Dmg is doubled! We get exact number, not just random numbers.

Lets look at Vitality: 500 Vitality adds 5000 health, 900 Precision gives about 42% critical chance etc. You can see a numbers rising up with any other stat added, with exception of Toughness.

Now lets take a look at toughness: I take a gear with 900 toughness. The tooltip doesn't show for how much dmg reduction 900 Toughness gives. If i have 1000 base toughens (2167 armor) and i take 900 additional toughness i get 1900 toughness (3067 armor). Great, right? I am immortal now, right? Hmm, am i? I have no idea, because i can't see any dmg reduction numbers on my gear. So i have absolutely no idea how much is toughness worth in reality. I guess 900 toughness gives 15 -20% physical dmg reduction and that's it. But it's stupid that i have to guess about it. We should get exact numbers.

  14. >

    > just go 50/50 trail and viper, being at 16k hp with 0 toughness will be annoying from time to time

But then i will only have 20% crit or even less ... I need at least 40% base crit to get benefits from Sharper Images and some other traits and Weapon Sigils, such as Superior Sigil of Earth, because all these stuff is so dependent on crit. Even Viper gear is very low on crit (35% only). Sinister or Rabid gear both give me 50% crit, but zero condi duration. Or i can simply get some Runes with Precison and condi duration + 7% crit on weapons: problem solved :)

  15. I have in mind Hammer or Greatsword or double Axes maybe. Range of the weapon would vary, depends on Attunement.

Fire Attunement: 1200 range, power and burning dmg.

Air Attunement: 900 range, Power dmg, cc.

Water Attunement: 450 - 600 range, healing and support, low dmg.

Earth Attunement: 130 - 170 range, heavy power and bleeding dmg + defense.

Earth would be top dmg, because of melee, or we could swap Earth and Fire range, so Fire would get 130 range with hard hitting burning abilities, while Earth would be a safer 1200 range with much lower bleeding dmg, but better survivability. Or Air could be melee too, with Water being 1200 range. There are so many variations on horizon.
