We don't know what or how they are to work yet. It could be they pop up randomly via ambushes or have designated areas to start via raids or strike missions.

I can see the Commander try to speak to these races to end their current hostile nature and unite to stop the dragon minions from destroying their homes any longer.

I can see us convince the Tengu to help and possibly open up the Dominion of winds to us. Same with the Largos and their houses. Earning faction reputation for each race on a new map to prove we have the best intentions. This could lead to us having to deal with a race that that we don't like or they don't like us.

    and how would you prevent others from fighting it?

    the best Arena Net have managed thus far is to let everyone who already entered fight keeping others outside, but no entering limitation

    maybe the reason so many didn't like it was because it had no voice acting in it and everyone grunted

  3. I mean seriously.... some of us here were not playing the last two episodes of icebrood saga at all. While I think this could have been a great opportunity to delay releases a month giving you time for more preparations, you could have at least given us a week or two to enjoy the last two chapters before moving the entire population from the last two episodes map to a new one.

    they suggested that by September, the cutscenes would have been finished and that in September they would begin doing the rest of the content (voicing npc's,foes, etc). since I only care for the instanced content (story) being voiced and don't mind at all everything else being non-voiced (and I assumed most of the skippers feel the same) I have expected for this part to be the main focus and already voiced? for those not skipping, Is it entirely not voiced and they are going to bring all voices at once or is there voice speech here and there being added within updates?

  5. Think of the living world seasons as mini expansion packs, the story goes from the main game to season 1 which is now a small video and a few memories happening in the icebrood saga (you can find the entire episode in youtube as a 3 hours movie, it is quite good if the story is important to you).

    after season two comes the heart of thorns expansion. then season 3 which after comes path of fire expansion and then the season 4 and then the icebrood saga.

    short version

    my story>[season 1](

    )>season2>heart of thorns>season 3>path of fire>season 4>icebrood saga
  6. full disclosure I did not pay anything to get any episode as I was always there to get free episodes

    I think that the problem here is with the initial idea of how Anet designed the storyline. unlike many other games in which every expansion/dlc is it's own saga, guild wars 2 has a continuous never ending story line.

    #spoilers

    it was the same reason people got angry over trahearn taking over. if you didn't begin as sylvari, this did not make any sense. because all of the main story was one complete saga.

    then begins the mordremorth saga, which spans from the beginning of season 1 where scarlet briar awakens mordy, then on season 2 you get the reason to get into the jungle to fight mordy which you do in heart of thorns.

    #end of spoilers

    this problem goes on in season 3 that starts a saga that ends in path of fire.

    and this is more of an advertising problem rather than a cost problem.

    this complaints wouldn't have been if instead of bundling heart of thorns and path of fire they would have bundled each with it's own season prequel 25$ each which keeps the same price.

    the funny thing is heart of thorns and path of fire are not as related to one another as they are to their prequel seasons.

    this is the real issue, not the price

  7. I am delaying my living story play till the voice is coming but now there is a new living story and the old one still doesn't have voice over. i am realy afraid that when i am going to play the map will be empty. I understand that there is corona and Anet are playing it safe. but i see no reason why they don't bring employs one by one to dub instead of doing it all at once. will there ever be voice? will the expansion come out without voice over? is there anyone else who waits?

  8. There are plenty of places inside and out to get lost in... many caves are there, not to mention the open world dungeons. Many labs to explore, underwater tunnels, caves, mountains plenty of buildings to get in and out of. Pirate ships in and out of water to explore.

    Did you even play the game?

  9. As a player who got access to all living story and never paid for it, i agree that the old living story should come with the expansion packs or at least be cheap. It would have been better if heart of thorns would still cost 10-15$ instead of free and u get the living story season 2 with it. Path of fire should have included season 3 instead of heart of thorns, season 4 should still cost money, and same for seadon 5, but when the xpac comes they should be part of it. Also, due to the story structure, xpacs should require previous xpacs. Otherwise the chronology is ruined. Placing season 1 in season 5 is a disgrace. Srsly, just put it in season1. The maps are allready changed, why not put the tower there, why is it in fractals? U think that black spot is better? Its not as if u returned the map to it's original state

    > so you are saying that to defeat a guadian i must change my profession? ROLF, nice solution...

    If both of you are rangers than yah one of you should change a profession, every other profession has boon removal.

    it's a rock paper scissors game, if someone always use rock, you should not pick scissors. you can go back to scissors next round and the enemy might pick paper.

    >

    in basketball there is offense and defense, every player has weaknesses and powers, that is why on defense each player is assigned to focus on a specific other player. if you have a good team synergy, each player should be able to counter a specific enemy, though I was mostly focusing on ranked which is 2 v 2, where guardians are giving people troubles.

  12. I see that many people here cry about guardians being over powered.

    I know most of you rely on specific builds.

    I think it is time to learn how to strategize, which is what you do before battle

    ~~Boons~~

    Now we know guardians are very powerful because they use boons.

    Boons are effect that enhance a character's capabilities, such as health regeneration, more armor, more power, etc.

    If you remove guardian's boons he will become more vulnerable.

    ~~~~How do you remove boons?~~~~
    Many professions have skills that are used to remove boons:
    Mind Spike — Sword (chained from Mind Slash), one from up to three foes
    Mind Stab — Greatsword, one from up to five foes
    Spinal Shivers — Focus, three from target foe
    Banish Enchantment — three from all foes that are hit
    Break Enchantments — two from up to five foes
    Throw Mine — one from foes that are hit
    Null Field — one per pulse from each foe in the area
    Phantasmal Disenchanter — five from foes hit
    "Nothing Can Save You!" — two from up to five foes
    Breaching Strike — two from target foe
    True Nature — two from up to five foes
    Mine Field — removes one boon for each mine
    Winds of Disenchantment — one boon lost per second, over 10 seconds
    Larcenous Strike — Sword with offhand Dagger, two from target foe to self
    Arcane Thievery; Send three conditions you have to your foe and steal three of their boons.
    (and many more necro skills that transfer boons to conditions)
    when you see that a guardian have many boons you should use them.
    There are also traits that remove boons
    Spellbreaker
    Dispelling Force — Dazes, stuns, pulls, knockdowns, knockbacks, and launches remove boons.
    Enchantment Collapse — Removing a boon from a foe causes all nearby foes to lose additional boons.
    Corruption
    Opportune Extraction — Steal a boon when you inflict torment on a foe affected by at least the threshold stacks of torment. Each foe can only be affected once per interval.
    Spontaneous Destruction — Use Lesser Banish Enchantment when striking a foe that has at least as many boons as the threshold.
    Domination
    Shattered Concentration — Shatter skills also remove a boon on hit.
    Traits that add benefit to boon removal or corruption
    Spellbreaker
    Loss Aversion — Removing boons from a foe deals damage and gives you adrenaline.
    Attacker's Insight — Gain Insight when disabling foes or removing boons. Full Counter refreshes all burst skills on hit.  Disables include stun, daze, knockback, pull, knockdown, sink, float, launch, taunt and fear.
    Enchantment Collapse — Removing a boon from a foe causes all nearby foes to lose additional boons.
    Scourge
    Nourishing Ashes — Gain life force when you inflict burning, and remove or corrupt a boon.
    Feed from Corruption — When you remove or corrupt a boon from an enemy, gain that boon.
    Shadow Arts
    Rending Shade — Steal boons from enemies you strike with stealth attacks. Striking a boonless foe with a stealth attack inflicts fear on nearby foes.
    Trickery
    Bountiful Theft — Stealing grants you and all nearby allies vigor. You rip boons from your target and grant them to nearby allies.
    ~~But I can't switch build mid battle~~
    Well that is true but you can switch build at the 60 minutes before round begins, you should use that time. it is not a lot but if you prepared a build template then you can switch between two builds quite fast. use that time and use that feature to win battles.
    ~~What about the shields~~
    Well here you just need to look at animations and act accordingly. if the guardian uses a shield go around him. inside a shield bubble? go inside or outside accordingly.
    I hope this helps
  13. This is a trick question, while I think there is some content that is way too hard (raids) the rest of the game is way too easy, I mean fractals could have given us some challenge the problem is that they force you to start on the lowest levels and by the time you got to the harder parts you already know how to do them by heart so it's still easy. the open world is very easy. maybe the strikes are a good step forward, you can die but you can learn the mechanics and eventually finish it. I have never had any issue doing open world content, it was always too easy, maybe if there is no one around it get's a bit harder.
  14. While I think everything is going great regarding current development of the game and the living world/saga should stay.
    Now to the main point, many people want other things beside living story, and I am sure the company don't have enough time for everything.
    Many big and small companies utilize kickstarter to fund projects.
    I think Anet should use kickstarter to enlarge areas of the game, for instance it could kickstart WvW maps, a GvG project, new expansion.
    This way Anet could on one hand keep with the living story that is funded by it's own revenue all the while it could use kickstarter to let player decide what is worth their investment, this way Anet could hire employs for side projects without being afraid of losing money.
  15. I agree
    While the last episode was a bit short and the map was fine but not amazing this episode, not only was great by itself but it actually made the content of the previous episode more meaningful.
    this didn't just extend the map but it also made it so that the meta event at the east side of the map affect the west side of the map.
    also the story was very nice and I really likes jormag, finally an evil character which communicates properly with us.
    I have yet to experience the drakkar fight because it was bugged, but I am sure they will fix it.
  16. Are you guys high? There are not enough uniquecitems like this. Finaly something of worth to look up to... there are just too many titles/shinys that doesnt mean anything. I cant differentiate between a veteran and a noob in this game.
    In guild wars 1, if you seen a panda mini, it meant something. Obsidian armor meant something.... in gud wars 2 nothing is meaningfull, maybe this chair will be the start
