  1. * I purchased the skimmer skin, but received no instructions. I got the skin via a gem store mail, the sort that disappears once you take the item. No other instructions followed. I finally had to look it up, and a guide said there should be a mail sending you to the skimmer trainer. I decided to just go there and see if I could speak with her. Upon waypointing into the area, the mail with instructions was delivered. So, first bug. How is one to have any idea what to do if they don't at least get the first clue.

    * The rest of the collection was not a problem for me, I guess I got lucky.

    * The final race: The adventure window keeps popping up as soon as I start to move, requiring me to spend time hitting ESC to get it to close. Thankfully that doesn't quit the race.

    * I can't dive, and I'm not moving fast enough to complete it at the silver level as a swimmer for the underwater parts.

    * The adventure does not list in the "Objectives" area, so I can't easily reset the event to try again.

These bugs have been reported via the bug system, but just adding a voice here.

  2. I'd guess that if a commander is being extremely selective about who they let into their group, then they are trying to pull off more complicated tactics. Personally, I'd leave them alone and go find another group. I wouldn't get upset about NOT being able to join them...it's their game to play, too. They aren't responsible for my entertainment.

There are also people that can take advantage of getting participation credit if they are in a squad but not actually with the squad--those working on getting their wvw mount, or scouts that are either out roaming or sitting in a keep or tower. It's nice to be able to join a squad for those reasons, but again...I wouldn't get upset if it didn't happen.

  3. The wait to feed isn't bothering me. Gives a reason to take a break and do other things, like actually spend time on the Dragonfall map learning the events, etc. Finding 21 skyscales does not get me engaged. If it had been 10-12 I'd have taken the time and hunted them myself. At 21, screw it, I'm going to go to a guide--which I see as a failure in the design. Collections shouldn't make players groan painfully when they see the number, and then feel prodded to use a guide made by someone else. The other collections and world tours are the same, just busy work. Evidently I'm less bothered with just waiting than most others, and more bothered by running around mindlessly checking in crevices. IMO.

The community wouldnt even mind if the duration were twice as long... but obviously if a baby skyscale backpack skin is made, it would definitely be in the gemstore lootbox than out there as a PvE reward

I also would have preferred something on this design. A backpack for the first set of collection. Skyscale glider wings, or perhaps a "flying" helm with goggles, for the 2nd set of collection. The actual skyscale for the final. The current design is just a lot of busy work for no interim rewards. We get rewards for every mob we defeat, every level, every event. Yet for this, we get nothing but a small achievement point or 2, and more work. With the griffin, it was a new design element, and we were willing to put in the work. With the rollerbeetle, the collections were annoying, but ok..why not. This time around I think we've realized we don't really like the "busy work with only a final reward" design.

  4. Resonance, south reflector

I've just spent an hour on this one thing, and still no success. I've tried different locations on the reflector tank. I've done the pools close, I've done them just barely touching. I've put them going through the fence, trying every location along the fence. The fence stops the fire *every* time. I've gone around the ends of the fence. There isn't enough time to go around the ends of the fence without the first pools disappearing because the bucket stops pouring. If I try the mount, dismount tip to get the bucket to pour, I still don't have enough time. If I try picking up the bucket that is on the end of the fence, that bucket then doesn't pour.

I'd call this bugged. Just get rid of the stupid fence if it's not going to work consistently for every player.

This! So many outfits I've passed up because the shoulders just ruin things.

Just make it so we can hide helms, shoulders and gloves on outfits, since those are the areas where individuals' sense of style seem to really differ from the dev's. Those are the three parts of outfits that usually get complaints in our guild. Well, those and the ubiquitous butt-capes and boob targeting.

  6. Give it a day or two. The release day for one of these festivals is always crazy. Enjoy other aspects of the area, then hit the hunts, etc. once the feeding frenzy is over.

I don't seem to have the connectivity issues, but it is annoying with all the mount rears in the way and I can't see to direct my mount--and because no one can see, everyone just keeps hopping and flapping around hoping there are actually bags in that spot. I decided to work on collecting crystals, or just heading out to the edges of the hunt area and collect enough to promise participation and avoid the busy areas. Some people get obsessed with two or three bags in a difficult spot, when I've headed out and collected 6 in the same time.

  7. Despite me sitting there frozen chanting "Yooo-hooo, Aurene! Where arrrrreee youuuuu?" I still jumped and then laughed at the ending. The various character's quips at the end were fun.

I would like to ask that the "out of bounds" (OOB) areas in the instances get some tweaking. There is no "wait" time between accidentally crossing into the zone and getting the warning and then getting dumped in these new instances. While playing through the first time, I got dumped out a few times. I'm paying attention to the story, to the battles, and not the mini-map.

For example, as you enter the trial instance, Taimi walks out-of-bounds while talking and walking with you. If one walks with her, you get dumped out. Luckily, this one is early, and didn't waste a lot of time. Still, needs a warning period or just get rid of the first restricted area. The player doesn't need that sort of leashing--it's sort of insulting.

Also, once in the Domain of Kourna to scout before the forces arrive: we have a large area to explore, but then there are OOB areas that make no sense. While fighting/evading one NPC scouting party, I accidentally "portaled" myself into OOB and got immediately dumped out of the instance--before I had gotten to a checkpoint in the game. This required a lot of repeated play.

    Thanks.

  8. Chest 2 is also on the other side of a curtain, but can be accessed by the player. Just thought it might be best if that were moved a bit to avoid any future problems. Most of the comments seem to be for chests 5 and 6, which we also found out of reach.

    Thanks for the update.

  9. I bought 2 adoption licenses. Thinking about it over the last 24 hours made me so angry, I'm not buying any more.

Please, Anet, do NOT make us spend gems on RNG items. There are some players that have a lot of gold at this point, and can probably convert to gems. But the bulk of us spend hard earned cash for gems. Having something be random is just insulting.

I'll purchase skins that are single and identified if I like them, but I don't want 27 skins that I did NOT want to get 3 I wanted.

  10. As one of those posting in the original threads, my update is that it did get better for me. For one, you are on your mounts a lot less than you think. Getting dismounted is common, and then you are either fighting to get out of combat, or running until you can mount up again.

    * You can just use the mounts for the situational moments where their skills are needed. Otherwise, just run as usual.

    * Learn to tap your "back" button when stopping. It evens out the slide/drift of all the mounts. You'll need to learn this for precise landings anyway, so start practicing.

    * Just like with driving a car, don't "look" right in front of you or at your avatar when moving. You look far ahead of yourself while driving, you sense the car around you. You don't need to watch your character and the mount that closely. Adjust your various camera settings so you can pull way back.

    * Get your skimmer and jackal as soon as possible. The skimmer and the jackal have a much smoother animation than the bipedal jumpers. The skimmer's "drift" can make me a little woozy at times, but it's better than the bouncing and sliding around of the raptor or springer. Get guildies, friends, or even helpful people on those maps to help you get to the skimmer and jackal heart areas.

The most important one is probably to get the different mounts. Many folks that had problems with the raptor during the preview weekends *may* find that the jackal or skimmer will be their go-to mounts.

I'm still leveling my griffon masteries, so I'm not including that in my review.

  11. If you tap the "back" movement key (usually "S") as you stop, you can straighten out the slide. However, yes, a lot of us tried to give good feedback in the hopes that there would be some settings we could adjust. I realize that there may not have been enough time, but some response from ArenaNet would have been nice.
