I can understand this up to a point. But similar to how having intricate maps that force you to actually try and understand the map to navigate it (e.g. TD, Draconis Mons) is a quality I look for in Maps it should be understood that a) not everyone values the same in maps and b) not all maps should be made from the sam Formular. I personally find BSF too event crowded, especially since many of the events are copies of each other.

I get that you say that there is not enough content (as stated before I think this is more a question of density and you seem to agree, so lets leave this for now), but is your issue as well with the contents quality?

Not only into the last instance. The new visit to Glints lair, the branding of glint… Any one of them could have been an absolute highlight instance, say, in Season 3. This time we got all three in 1!

    Also:

    * There are 0 Hearts in BSF 4 in Thunderhead

    * There are 0 Adventures in BSF 2 in Thunderhead

    * BSF has arguably 3 Meta even chains (exocism at night, hablion and the bloodstone Maw) other than that there are 6-8 events on the map accordign to the wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Fen .

*'out of the Shadows' has 28 achievements (*) 'all or nothing' has 51 achievements (*for both: the numbers I am able to see in the ingame UI, may vary depending on the number of hidden achieves yet locked for me)

=> The reason why you see Events on BSF all the time is twofold: A) its smaller and hence has a denser Event population. B) There are a bunch of events that will just happen over and over after each other or even simultaneously. For me at least this lead to a fast burn out with this type of event (e.g. kill the displaced creatures). We also have to consider that obviously a lot of the resources tied to 'all or nothing' went into the amazing instances!

All of this is not to say that its wrong of you to prefer Bloodstone. But if we just look at the metrics it's undeniable that Thunderhead has a lot of quality content and I think we can be sure that there will be more crowded maps again in the future.

    > What do u mean ls3ep6 was a last minute addition?

It has been stated that LS3 was originally supposed to have 5 Episodes only but they ended up adding another one for pacing, having more time to finish PoF etc. Obviously this was not literally a "last minute decision" since the map and all the content take quite some time, but from what we have heard it came about quite late in the development of ls3.

Now this does not really tell us anything about expected ls length for this or future season, but it does weaken the assumption that the current season must have 6 episodes because ls3 had 6.

    > Thereafter LW Season 5 starts straight after (give or take the 2-3 month release cadence)

Where is this supposed to have been said? All I could find was the red bull article suggesting this was actually the last LS4 Episode, but the wording was far from unambiguous and it might have meant that Episode 5 was somewhat of a climax for the current season.

Assuming 6 Episodes is plausible as it is in keeping with LS3s number and would fit the story arc as there is no resolution to the current arc yet, but since LS3E6 was a "last minute" addition and the possibility of an inter-season-cliff hanger we cant say for sure if there will be even 1 more episode this season from what I could find.

No. It is prejudice, it is wrong and they would have a pretty good case against her/the company. However it lacks the background in power dynamics that would qualify this as discriminatory. Basically: if this happens once/ in few singular cases it is "only" prejudice, if this becomes a social phenomenon that disadvantages a group based on gender/race/class not only in a specific case but structurally in society as a whole, this is when it becomes discrimination.

sexism (as any kind of discrimination) requires the existence of a social hierarchy. You can still find attacks against men distasteful but that doesn't make them discriminatory. Also: men can certainly be discriminated against, but not based on gender, but based on class, orientation, ethnicity, etc.

  7. To be honest I find it quite disheartening that Arenanet bends to the will of the sexist mob that has been attacking one of their devs over multiple subreddits and threads. Even if Anet disagrees with their handling of the original incident on twitter, letting people go who have done such wonderful work and have been attacked so viciously was unnecesarry. I've always seen Arenanet as a company that values diversity and actively works against the misogynist culture that is present in much of gaming and software development, since your game as well as your staff have always expressed this commitment. That's why I would have expected Anet to take a more nuanced stance on this issue.

    > Having paid for something I am certainly ENTITLED to expect that .. and yes, we do pay for the LS via the cost of the expansion at the very least.

There is no need to get into a back and forth over what exactly the act of buying the expansions entitles us to (there is an argument to be made that anet does not own us the LS, since if you didn't log in we would have to pay for it and if they would suddenly stop developing gw2 that would be fully within their rights, they didn't even advertise LS as part of PoF), since it is quite clear and uncontested that Anet is a company, not a group of hobbyists - sure they make money from the content. What you are not entitle to is software working with zero problems 100% of the time and especially on day 1. Everyone who has ever worked in software development or anything close to it knows this.

  9. I don't usually jump around defending a company from their customers, but ugh... people act so entitled.

As an indie game developer myself, if the player base of my games would act this way because of problems on the first day of new content I wouldn't know how to keep going. So thank you everyone at Anet, for working so hard and then having to listen to all this entitled whining, you'r commitment is much appreciated <3

  10. @"fatihso.7258" Well it is somewhat fiddly, but after getting used to it's not that bad. Part of the reason why it feels so weird is that the speed actually comes in bursts, so whether you will hit the ground or pull even just in time (given that you don't want to actually pull up by pressing "s") is a matter of aligning the flap rhythm to your flying curve.

I end up slamming the ground a lot when I'm going for daily records, because I try to optimize pulling even/up at the last moment in order to shave off a few nanoseconds. But that's actually not so bad given that the courses take ~30 seconds to complete and you can just start over. If the courses were longer this would be much more frustrating.

    > I look forward to that one. I'm still trying to figure out how to get enough speed for the Oasis one. I keep reaching the building that you go through with like 6 seconds left for gold.

Make sure to hit space when swooping but be careful not to hit the ground (the speed spike comes in with the actual flap that uses your endurance). Don't pull up more than you absolutely have to. Then this one shouldn't give you any trouble =)

I enjoyed racing threw other players very much ^^

  12. The amount of easily accessible mastery points in PoF is absurd already. The only reason why people might feel otherwise is that the needed experience amount has been lowered so much (a max lvl mastery now costs ~600k XP while in HoT it was arround 5.000k) that people max them very quickly and as such start looking for the next mastery points way faster. While casual players took months to max HoT and core masteries most players finished the 4 basic one in PoF in a matter of days.

This is obviously no accident, but simply means that the role masteries are supposed to play has shifted from a somewhat long-term-progression system to a system that allows players to unlock the mount realated abilities during a single playtrough. Why do I still bring this up? People need to keep in mind that masteries are still supposed to be some kind of progressio nsystem otherwise they coudl jsut throw the mounts and abilities at us from the get-go. Part of this system is that while some abilities are convinient and cool and maybe necessary for some hidden content, they usually aren't especially in earlier maps. The OP is plain wrong when he/she states that they need the lvl3 masterie of the springer to collect the shards in this story step.

What I'm really curious about is how ANet will keep developing the masteriesystem. It was in an odd palce before and PoF did little to fix this. While the roel it playes with mounts workes to a degree (its pretty much a non mechanic for many people) it is unclear how it is supposed to work o any future masteries that arn't mounts and if it ever really will fucntion as a "mid-term horizontal progression system".

  13. ... phew. This is some serious difficulty! The other courses pale in comparison with this one.

While I thank you for a wonderful and challenging hour I spend working on the course, I have to admit: the level of trolling it takes to place a colorful checkpoint right before the key obstacles - the palm tree before the cave and more importantly the bend in the cave - so that you cannot see it until it is to late is borderline infuriating!

Anyhow: awesome job on the griffin movement and the associated challenges. It is fiddly at first and the - at this point - high frequency of bugs (getting thrown off midair, having the griffin turn into a static rig that behaves like the unmounted PC) requires some patience from players, but the learning curve is very fun and the sensation of speed exhilarating!
