Not only do you shun the playerbase who just want to be entertained for offering their time to the gamemode for no reason, you also make it much more effective to just abandon a match the moment it is not going in your favor. You both reduce and toxify the player group willing to put up with your direction. This is a bad idea. rewards can be adjusted but participants should get something for even finishing the match.

Even the necromancer, which is notoriously "slow", can build to be relatively "fast". So maybe the issue of the "weak fast guy" isn't necessarily a loss of speed but a lack of (popular) options to be "strong". ~~ This right here. But all builds that are not "u am +1 go cap uncontest point also" are swiftly nuked because they go outside thief's "role". Then the builds that perform the role get tapped down too because people don't like thieves being able to run away just as much as they don't like them doing damage.~~ Ignore me, I just realized I don't care as much about this as that sounds. > @"TheQuickFox.3826" said: > Not dead, because they have excellent movement speed, invisibility and spike damage compared to other professions. > In sPvP, a thief will more often than not kill my Elementalist and if not be extremely annoying by stealth capping any unguarded points with great speed and little risk. > > Even when I try to run away from a losing battle with superspeed, swiftness and ride the lightning, a thief still keeps at my location and kills me. > Also, it is very hard to keep target selection on a thief enemy, same with a mesmer enemy. > > Sure, with a sustained battle, I thief will lose most of the time, unless it is a deadeye that can do its damage from a safe distance. But all professions have their pros and cons. > Today some guardian enemy wondered why I was 'invincible' with my tempest. And the next match a thief killed me in 2 seconds. I can't tell if this is sarcasm, a commentary on an actual thought process by an elementalist/satire, or genuine.
  4. > @"Kuma.1503" said: > My point is that thief alone shouldn't get special treatment. It's far from dead when compared to actual underperformers (who have had to just suck it up for ages). Let's not do that. If we keep blocking actual fixes from going through because X class that you happen to play is not buffed everything is going to go further to hell than it already is. >What core thief has to deal with now is just a taste of what other classes have had to deal with and accept. Saying buff thief doesn't begin to address the real problem here. I'm not talking about core thief specifically here. I am aware it's weak and is not alone on that front. > We should be saying "Buff underperformers" because frankly there's been a criminal lack of that since Feb 2020 dropped. I'm aware core engie is hella weak despite what Woodstock is doing. > @"Kuma.1503" said: > It's even become a meme around here "Nerf teef". It's a meme because Thief is punished equally across all specs. While core engie is weak and playing with core kit is frustrating, engies have the option of rolling either holo or scrapper and becoming combat effective. I understand the nade nerf was frustrating and getting it rebalanced because of holo was annoying, but holo still performs well, as does scrapper. Correct me if I'm wrong by all means. Also I don't play core engie very well/am not interested in core beyond bomb kits (I am mildly interested in holo/scrapper) , while I **do** play thief, so I'm going to have much more to say about thief, and relatively little to say about engie. I'm not against them getting buffs, as long as the end result is not handhold-y.
  5. I main Warrior. (Berserker spec) Axe/Shield, GS. (DPS oriented). ***Interrupt mending** . Daredevil has a very low cd steal and headshot is low cost. Interrupting Mending/To the Limit! can turn a warriors brain off and take all of the pressure off you as they try to break LoS to heal. (If spellbreaker, make sure you avoid FC since the 1s daze will be enough to cover their heal if they hit you and steal is on cd.) **Do not be hit by headbutt.** The skill is telegraphed and comes off cd every 17 seconds. If I hit you with it, I'll kill you unless you burn a CD or stunbreak. You can interrupt, blind, or evade it, but making sure it doesn't contact you will make the fight easier. **Whirling Axe in Blind Field.** Blind is Warrior's hard counter and we usually have to burn a CD or swap to get rid of it, since our big bursts are single hit. **If I decide to block while you are stealthed, backstab is free since backstab + swipe interrupts block.** I also play Thief (Daredevil). Sword/Pistol, Pistol/Pistol (DPS oriented) I run seal area. **I cannot hide the dust mark the prep setting makes**. If you keep an eye out for it, you'll know where I set it. If I catch you in seal area you're going to get bursted or have to burn cds to avoid it. **Reflect/Evade/LoS Unload, but do not try to interrupt it if it hits you before you react to it or it was prefaced by sneak attack.** It'll blind you and I'll finish the channel anyway. I run bound. Time your attacks for when I am landing from a dodge, even if I am going into stealth.

I'm quoting this because clarity immediately shot down by insult. if I was a dev working on this game I'd avoid these forums too. Objectively all we do is yell and expect them to sift through all the posts, gather only the correct information and then package it perfectly into a balance patch, like this game isnt their job and they don't have other things to do to unwind or relax. We're going to need people to start preparing well constructed posts, updating them regularly, listening to people who challenge their opinions and then be willing to adapt their balance suggestions based on that, -then- tap the devs about it. The large portion of the playerbase is floating in and out of PVE and even if we get ignored here until we quit pvp will continue to be populated by PVEers lured by shinies. I'm sure nobody is getting a paycheck to do anything but remove ToS violations here.
  7. Condi P/Dagger can still kill people who don't press buttons right. (And that's kind of hard to run in a team comp anyway.) One good nerf away from being actively sandbag though. Just because it isn't dead doesn't mean it's in a good spot. > @"Kuma.1503" said: >It's still the safest class in the game by a mile. It's only being played safe because all risky options don't deal enough damage to be warranted. It's not more intrinsically safe than any other class by any significant margin. >It still has better mobility than any other class + stealth to help them disengage fights that would result in the deaths of most other classes (exceptions being maybe a rocket boots engi or owl soulbeast). It can still use stealth to cover rotations, leaving players in a lose/lose scenario of either asuming the thief has left and leaving their node, only to have it back-capped, or staying to defend it, only for the thief to rotate mid and get a kill. You're right, but defining what the thief generic +1 role is doesn't make it good, especially when other classes can perform this role as well. >Thief is still thief even after the sb5 nerf. I wouldn't call it dead by a long shot. Even core thief, without dash to make up for the nerf, is nowhere near the level of underperformance of core mesmer, engi, or ele. All three of these core classes are about on par with core thief performance wise, with core ele being the weakest objectively. You're correct about Sb5 not being the classkilling nerf. I'll give you that. All daredevil physical skills, staff, and sword need to be buffed, and rifle needs to be rebalanced so holding down 2 isn't more effective than timing 3. Then I'll agree with you. Nerf thief, btw. I can still down people with a toothpick if they can't fight.

For example, you can't have separate lists for the different zones, or cities, it was a suggestion back at release to improve this feature but it never happened. As for the thread's topic, the playlist you are looking for is called "Defeated", make your own playlist with that name, put it in the Music folder and you will listen to that instead of the vanilla sound. > > You can find more information/details on the wiki: > https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Customized_soundtrack Oh mah gah
  10. I'd probably start doing commander trains off and on. Would definitely take a hit to my playtime though. I'd only be here a fraction of the time I normally spend.

Win at having fun but lose some games Or Win matches but trade your enjoyment of the game to do it The point of pvp is to have fun. play something fun. Get good with it. Moment you start worrying about meta kitten is the moment you start to slowly die like everyone who thinks their plat badge matters.

Over 80% of the damage comes from the passive proc. We weren't talking about DH Spear damage though. We were talking about whether the skill is un-evadable and if that un-evadable aspect is easily applied/there is an excuse to being hit by it. the answer to both of those questions is yes on Trapper rune builds, since trapper rune makes it easier to apply the first spear skill. Even if we were, the spear damage is not solely relevant to the synergy with Trapper runes. My issue is that Trapper Runes gives guardians a means to hide animations that high damage skills rely on to justify them. Spear tether is just one of those. > @"Cynz.9437" said: > An immobile class that is definitely designed around NOT having stealth by all means (abundance of blocks, heal, regen, aegis, condi cleanse, team support, some hard cc and invuls) got really easy access not only to stealth but also superspeed - what could go wrong ^. Guardians already have generous amounts of damage mitigation built into their core. Their weaknesses- Namely that they are ordinarily highly visible and have telegraphed animations/are only mobile in bursts are all covered by Trapper Rune.

Just felt like quoteposting this because it was funny. Also, while the second one is just untrue, being killed by traps while DH is on the other side of the map is not a problem with trapper rune.
  15. > @"Jugglemonkey.8741" said: > A thief can only 'abuse' boonrip if the other player is 'abusing' boons. Bountiful theft isn't the problem here. Not true. There are cases in which the class matchup already has a lean toward thief that boonripping full stacks/dura would aggravate. If a non glass thief boonrips a glass warrior, that skews the match further in the thief's favor, because the thief has additional damage for merely interacting with a class they already have an advantage on. Warrior vomits might for merely existing. Same with classes that are playing support like Herald/Tempest. This issue is compounded if you let them distribute those copies to allies. A gated duration of the boon is fine, lest we get battered by complaints about thieves stabbing people for 13k because they F1ed a ranger who pressed strength of the pack.
  16. > @"Shao.7236" said: > There's more dodges accessible overtime on Mirage than any other spec, it was a clear issue to never be able to kill any Mirages with 2 dodges and nobody wants to admit that. This is incredibly strange to me, both the part when a developer thought removing the window for being punished for getting stunned was a good mechanical decision to push live in a game with a competitive side, and the part where people adamantly defended being able to do so while conveniently ignoring how much vigor/energy they could regain with proper sigil/rune/traitline choices. Every time I hear someone ask for another dodge back on Mirage I think about this. On topic though >Which class fun to play > I'm talking about mid to high skill ceiling classes that provide great reward for ppl willing to master them. All of them are fun, and with some level of effort can break even with good players, though some are more easily countered than others. If I had to be forced to order them I'd go: 1: [Everything that isn't scourge] 2: Scourge And that's only tentative. I'm sure the right combo of punishments can lead to something nice.
  17. You can't have 25 might because you pressed F1 on a 17-20 second cooldown while targeting someone who generated the 25 might. Stripping the might is enough. if you want that DPS you're going to need to take a glass amulet and a damage line.

Not only that, no matter how effective their complaining is, there will always be people that lose to the watered down, nerfed version and continue to complain about it, and people that continue to make even the most toothpick builds look strong by their smart play. There will never be consensus or complete balance, especially if EoD is adding new class types to the mix.
