  1. After completing the Living World, main story, and expansion stories, is there any reason to do them on another character? You don't get any additional mastery points. I guess the main reason I do starting episodes is to give another character access to the HoT, PoF, and LW maps. Are there other reasons (besides that the story is really fun for some people)?

I don't mean to troll. I'm happy doing world map completion on many characters. I just don't find the LW and expansion stories all that fun a second time around.

  2. Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is a bug or working as intended. I have an experience scroll that boosts to level 50. I started a new character, but when I used that experience scroll, it would not work. As in, I was not able to even double click on it. Are those experience scrolls that boost a character to 50 no loner usable?

I have many other experience scrolls that boost a character to level 20, and those did not work on my new character either. Only the experience scrolls that increase your level by one level work on this new character.

Any ideas why the others no longer work?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. Metabattle just updated with the latest rankings, but I don't understand the relationship between the numerical rating and whether the build is meta.

For example, Spectral Onslought Necro has a rating of 4.5 and is listed as Meta. Retribution Shiro has a rating of 5.0 and is listed as Great (less than Meta). Is there no relationship between the numerical rating and how the build is classified? Is a Meta build just what the Metabattle site's owners see in the top sPvP league level?

  4. I'm just returning to the game, and I chose to play this Metabattle build (https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Vanilla_Condi_Necro).

Basic questions, sorry. Is my strategy:

    - stay as far away as possible from enemies while using staff, throwing down marks

    - cast corrupt boon whenever possible

    - shroud at the start at melee fights and then switch to scepter/warhorn when shroud ends and I'm still in melee?

when is the best time to go lich form? what else should i be doing? in 1v1, am i just trying to get as much distance as I can?

  5. I've been trying to play the Firebrand bunker build at https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Firebrand_-_Mantra_Bunker . I used to think of bunker builds as high health builds that stay on a point and can win 1 v 1s on that point, but this build seems more like a support build that should follow the group around and be used in group fights for healing and aegis. Is that correct? This build can't really do any damage. How should this build be played?

  6. This is helpful, thank you.

Why do you choose Healing Signet over Natural Healing? Is it because of the resistance?

    > Healing sig/Break enchantment/berserker stance/featherfoot... The break enchantment is to help you primarly vs. The opponent Spellbreaker in the 1v1 + good vs.anything else u 1v1 that uses a lot of boons.. Featherfoot can be used aggressivsly or defensively, but its another set of resistance that will help u vs. Mirage/scourge... berserker stance cause quick access to Burst skills + additional pulsing resistance if you find yourself in a very boon-ripped situation... Now against deadeye/pew rangers... If you're already 1v1ing something and one of those builds + against you, you should immediately use LoS (Line of Sight) or kite away from both players. Its more important you survive (technically 2v1) by trolling using distinct kitespots/LoS so your team wins rest of the map. Endure Pain is only worth taking in rare situations where the other team would only have 1 condi.

  7. I recently decided to make the sPvP backpiece, the Ascension. This piece requires lots of tier 6 materials to make the Gift of Magic and Gift of Might, and those materials may cost as much as 500g given current prices (around 30silver per item). What is the best way to farm those materials? The Silverwastes?

  8. I played Auramancer last season, which was supportive but not as fun. This season, I'm trying the S/F Fresh Air build found here:

    https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Elementalist_-_S/F_Fresh_Air

So far, it's been enjoyable, but honestly, I'm really not that great at it. Some questions that may help me improve:

    1) What's the use of Fiery Greatsword with this spec? I mostly use it to get away from someone (#3) when my Lightning Flash is on cooldown.

    2) Do you, as recommended, only stay in Air Attunement for a few seconds to get off a Lightning Strike and then switch to a different attunement? What do you switch to?

    3) Is there a reason to go into water except water #3 for the heal?

    4) My rotation when starting a match is to go Earth #2 (rock barrier) followed by Fire#4 and Fire#2 to blast a fire field before going to Lightning Strike. Is there a better rotation?

    5) What do you do when someone is sticking to you in melee and keeps chasing you down? Lightning Flash, Gale and/or Obsidian Flesh?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. I'm new to WvW, and I'm new to playing firebrand. Here's a link to the recommended WvW spec for my guild for a condi firebrand:

I spend most of my time in staff granting swiftness to my squad. When enemies come, I use staff to give might to my squad.

After that, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. Sometimes I hit F1 and do damage. Other times, I hit F3 and grant aegis.

What should I be doing? Any suggestions would be great.
