I truly feel that ANet has lost sight of what the mesmer is and can/should do. They're shooting blindfolded in a dark room. There's also a bull in a china closet somewhere. It just feels so heavy handed with no real explanation. It would be great if a dev popped in to say something...anything about what they're thinking for the mesmer but I doubt that'll happen.

We'll have to wait until the expansion and see what happens there.

Decided to play Mirage in PvP tonight. Been toying with condi in open world and thought with some tweaks, it could be decent in PvP.

The idea I have for this build is to be a bit tanky but to pressure with condis. I ran it and I was pretty decent at taking, holding, and dueling. I did just start doing PvP again and I know I could be better. But thoughts are welcome! Thanks!

Joined MAS around 4 months ago (what even is time anymore in 2020) and have been having a blast!! Super fun, chill, and great group of people to play with! Strikes the perfect balance for me of relaxed and hard-core. Very medium Core!!

MAS is a WvW focused guild first, but there are players that do Fractals and Raids as well. We all help each other when we can to get gear, learn a raid, or just getting a mount!!

Hey y'all! Tres Hermanos [bro] started with my two brothers and I playing this game together waaaaaay back when GW2 first game out and now I'd like to expand the guild! We started this guild as a way for us to share resources with each other and help each other out with getting masteries, skill points, and doing the story together (many an all nighter was spent playing the game). I think the chronomancer should be completely reworked. I think it should be a clone-less and phantasm-less elite specialization. Been playing my soulbeast a lot lately and not having to worry about the AI of a pet has helped a lot (I already enjoyed ranger with the pet).

But for chronomancer. Get rid of clones and phantasms and completely redo it. ANet has repeatedly destroyed their own unique MMO class to be a farce and need to get their head out of their kitten and listen to the players. I haven't played mirage much to comment on it. But I was super stoked about the chronomancer and it has fallen short of falling short.

I ask because I still use my mesmer, he runs through events, the story, and crafting (PvE). But outside of that I do not play him much in other formats. And again in PvE, I feel (other people have crunched the numbers on this) that I must work SOOOO much harder to achieve a good burst of damage (condi or just damage in general) in PvE content compared to other classes I play. Got a friend in to guild wars 2 lately and he asked about the mesmer. Forlorned, I had to tell him that Anet has consistently nerfed this class and is probably not the best first choice for a new player. Beforehand, I would have said, "Yes, the mesmer is super fun to play and you should def pick it! I'll teach you all the mesmer ways!".

It is just so sad to me that a class I've played in the original Guild Wars and have mained since GW2 launched, I'm now having to tell new players to not pick this class if they want to do anything outside of PvE. This class is so unique from what I've seen of other mmos and Anet has ruined it. Consistently. Anet, what is it that y'all want mesmer to be? Because this is getting ridiculous. It's supposed to be a magical dueling class (from the lore and all) and yet you destroy the mesmer's very means to duel effectively. So much so that it's not even viable in PvP. Which if you forgot, is PLAYER versus PLAYER.

Ugh. Fix the mesmer

P.S. I'm having a lot of feelings seeing my favorite class of...I don't know over 10 years across 2 games be stomped into the dirt. Has anyone else had to turn a friend away from mesmer that really wanted to play it?

Way back, I made the Minstrel because I honestly loved the pull of the focus and the whirly axe phantasm. But looking at metabattle it seems the mesmer focus isn't as widely used? Just wondering if I should move my Minstrel to another character that better utilizes the focus. And if yes, which classes seem to use the focus more? From what I've seen on my brief foray is the guardian and maybe the ele (?). I could be wrong.

Hey y'all! Coming back after a few years and interested in finding a relaxed and chill guild to have a community while I play. I main a mesmer with a ranger and elementalist as secondary. I have a character for each class too. I'm in Pacific Standard Timezone. Right now, I'm just looking for a guild to hangout with and learn some of the new builds and whatnot since a lot has changed from when I played. :)

Way back, I ran with PYRO in WvW. Did fractals with a group, PvP upon occassion, and love running in open world doing the story line or just exploring.
