  1. That amazing build is burn condition build which sacrifice a lot of Guardian's defence. It's very good in PvP since you can kill quick. But in PvE especially mobs with high HP, that burn-condi build is not quick enough to kill the mobs.

     

    I honestly think Retaliation is not good in PvE, so you can leave that Trait to either Inner Fire or Right Hand Strength. I use the Right Hand Strength trait even if I'm not using a sword. The extra precision does make a difference.

    I suppose the mobs you and vets that give you a hard time are those with posion arrow type. Since most of the them shoot arrows, having Shield of Avenger is extremely good. And when you use Spirit Weapon skills, Eternal Armory trait is a MUST. So even if you are not fighting against mobs with projectile, the extra dmg from Spirit Weapons' burn is good.

    Don't use Symbolic Avenger in this map cuz the mobs keep moving around a lot! So it's not effective against them.

    And maybe you might want to try replacing the Virtue Traits to Meditation, for a little extra condition removing skills and healing.

     

    I play in this HoT map a lot because I just love how challenging the mobs are. You need to block, you need to dodge, you need to be constantly active. And this is why I think the build you are using is not effective here.

  2. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but how does it sound?

    Some people just like to use the same weapon, like to see that weapon on his character and just don't want to change that. While this is not an issue to Elementalist, I think it is a great idea for a new patch update. Instead of giving the ability to a class to hold a weapon that he was not able to hold before, let him toggle the skills of the same weapon. My imagination is something like:

     

    Guardian Staff 1 - [support/range] Guardian Staff 2 - [Melee + 200% Healing power]

    Ranger Bow 1 - [Range Attack Skills] Ranger Bow 2 - [Magic Arrow Skills]

    Mesmer Greatsword 1 - [Range Attack Skills] Mesmer Greatsword 2 - [Melee Skills + Defensive Phantasms]

     

    I think most people toggle weapons just to substitute cool-down of the current weapon, not to adapt according to situation. Just saying, I think it's just the idea or the visual kinda bothers me.

    I feel so lucky I don't play Ele anymore and I don't have to suffer to this.

    As a guardian player running with Spirit Weapon build... I feel you.

    Somehow I have a feeling the dev dude secretly changed the name after watching Marvel Avenger. He got so hyped watching the post credit of the movie that he changed the name.
