  1. I think the devs want us to believe Braham will become Primordus’ Champion, but I doubt it’ll go there. Or at least not all the way. At most I could see Braham forcibly co-opting Primordus’ power with the spirits shielding him from being consumed/corrupted by Primordus’ power. Which I don’t love, but seems more plausible than Primordus giving a rat’s behind about Braham lol. Edit: maybe the thing Braham is approaching isn’t Primordus, but a scion that could replace him. Perhaps that’s something related to owl’s prophecy.

  3. It really would be fascinating to get into the origins of elder dragons, and how their original intentions may have become twisted over the years. The idea of Jormag (or any of the elders) once being a more Aurene-like figure, but perverting over time due to negative experiences or magical addiction/torment could be such a beautifully tragic tale. Not to say the elder dragons all should've been "good" at one point in the mythic past, but it would add a new layer to Jormag especially given their portrayal throughout Icebrood Saga. Gosh, I did not expect Jormag to become my "favorite" but I feel they did a really nice job with this dragon's characterization. The VA is a big part of that, too.
  4. The devs (Bobby specifically, I believe) said they hope to come back to the cut centaur plot at some point in the future. It’d be awesome if the post-EoDs content (and maybe the hypothetical S6) could delve into smaller scale faction/regional stories. I suppose if Jormag and Primordus were meant to be the catalyst, that might have to change depending on what transpires in EoDs.

I think everyone should feel free to criticize female characters and talk about masculinity without being labeled as a misogynyst. I haven't accused you as such, nor used that term. If you are worried about your words being labeled as such, then you should be more careful about your word choice. If the issue you want to discuss is how you'd like more male characters, do not arbitrarily bring up female characters as part of the issue.
  6. I have been using a soft “J” sound after the “Buh” sound. But I think “B-yor-uh” is most likely the phonetics of the word given the cultural basis of the norn.

Either pre, or post, release. As they admit in their twitch stream, they never actually made the centaur storyline because they considered it too complicated to try to explain why the Centaurs were now your allies in such a short time. > > It isn't cut content, the content was never developed., or originally planned. It was an idea they had for a possible storyline. This contrasting to something like Malyck in HoT, who was originally designed to be in the expansion, but actually got cut out. You can get caught up in semantics if you like, but the fact is there *were* plans for centaurs — as indicated by the trailer and now dev statements — that *were* cut from Icebrood Saga.
  8. Interestingly enough, there was a guild chat where they touched on this subject yesterday (I think?). I haven't been able to watch it yet, but they talked about a cut centaur storyline. It's on their Twitch channel, but hasn't been uploaded to youtube yet:
  9. What do you define as “sisteromance?” Because if the opposite of that is bromance, Caithe and Faolain, Marjory and Kasmeer don’t fit that description based on the fact their relationships were/are romantic. Bromance is typically portrayed as platonic and intimate, but not romantic or sexual. If you want more male x male romantic relationships, that’s something I’d love to see, but that doesn’t seem to be your desire. I’d be down for more “bros” or platonic “bromantic” relationships, too. As it stands, there are no platonic “sisteromances” between female characters either. I have to agree with Psientist’s sentiments. Your argument feels tainted by a dislike for the female characters, more specifically that the game (in your seeming opinion) would dare to focus on them over male characters. Your argument would come off less biased if you simply said “I’d like to see more male characters that are [insert traits here],” but instead you disparage female characters, their positions of power, and their relationships with other female characters like those are *bad* things. If that’s not what you mean, don’t bring up female characters as an issue/obstacle getting in the way of interesting male characters. The fact that Aurene is a “female” dragon has absolutely *zero* relevance to the reasons Vlast died. You can just say, “hey, we have Aurene. I’d love to see a good aligned male dragon too! Vlast was a cool character and a missed opportunity.” Most everyone would agree with that, but then you include all these irrelevant comments about female characters lol. Why is there no King in Kryta? Because Jennah hasn’t married. Why is Logan’s lack of commitment to Destiny’s Edge Jennah’s fault? She called for her most trusted knight when she felt threatened, and he chose to abandon his allies for his Queen. Whether wrong or right, that was his choice. There’s no indication that Jennah forced him to come to her aid as far as I remember, or that he’d face punishment for ignoring her request. It’s always been framed by the narrative that his love of Jennah was stronger than his love for his companions. I’m sure a lore buff will correct me if I’m wrong.
  10. > @"The Greyhawk.9107" said: > I've been hoping quite desperately that this comment about the balance being an illusion was just more of Jormag's kitten, cause that is one retcon that Anet can _not_ be allowed to get away with. It quite literally renders the entire quest to make Aurene an elder dragon pointless, as well as the battle against Balthazar (well, accept that whole killing innocent people to turn them into Forged bit, kinda needed to stop that). > > Frankly I have no expectations of how this LS season will end other than that it'll probably be really disappointing. I’m starting to feel like neither Primordus or Jormag will die this season. I think the finale will be Primordus erupting up the surface, and the season ends on “the real war has only just begun.” EoDs focuses on us trying to replace or depower the twins as they’re wreaking havoc in Tyria as their forces battle it out, and our only lead to fix it are saltspray dragons potentially being able to ascend. Most likely we get this info in a vision from Aurene/the scrying pool. We head to Cantha to search for them and get caught up in regional issues during the process.
  11. IIRC there is a comment somewhere in the lore that states the Eye resembles other divine structures in its architecture (similar to those in Arah, maybe?). My thought has been that either the human gods or a group of their followers (maybe the Forgotten) must have built it long ago. Edit: From the Guild Wars 2 wiki’s Eye of the North page: > The Eye of the North's origins are a mystery. All that is known of its origin is that it is not of dwarven, asuran, or human construction. It is said to resemble structures at godly sites, such as Arah. The norn of the Far Shiverpeaks were the first of modern species to discover the Eye of the North, and decided to avoid it due to sensing strange magic from it. It seems likely it ties into the human gods’ lore. The sources cited on the wiki are a scene from GW1 and then a magazine article from 2007, so who knows what weight the latter holds. The ecology of the Charr was a magazine article (I believe) and most of that lore seems to have been abandoned.
  12. I don’t think Champions is terrible like some, I actually really enjoy the concept of the DRMs and I have loved most of the dialogue. But the very dry and and flavorless way were building allies with these extremely lore rich factions with no lead-in or exploration is a damn shame. The ideas aren’t so much the problem with the back half of Icebrood Saga as it is implementation. The second batch of DRMs *did* tighten up and had better variation, but it just needed to have *so* much more depth. Dwarves and the forthcoming Tengu more than the rest deserve more time and attention than this. I hope there’s more, but what a lackluster way to bring those two big factions into the fold for the first time after the hype of waiting almost a decade to see them in action.

Either way, the dialogue keeps painting this picture of an innate connection between Prim and Jor. So if Primordus gets stronger through more fire and destruction, the opposite must be true for Jormag freezing more of the world. Their bond could even mean they share the same magic pool, and are always in a tug of war match over who gets more of that pool. New magic absorbed by one is new magic for both. > > > > I’m just rambling now lol. > > Its stated that they're literally twinned, which is when one entity splits into two (possibly their "mother" used this method of reproduction). So I think this theory is quite sound, and all evidence we've seen so far points to it. > > Because Elder Dragons seem naturally gluttonous, one would always want to destroy the other to regain that power. It would be interesting if they’re conjoined twins somehow. Something akin to their tails being linked and the “two faces of a coin comment” being more literal. I want to say there’s some folklore about dragons conjoined and always wanting to kill the other in some culture, but I can’t remember... might be making it up. That’d have to be an impossibly like body though, and if J is moving through the mists it doesn’t make as much sense.
  14. > @"EdwinLi.1284" said: > We know Primordus minions are back to looking like they use to be because he has readjusted the magical energy of the other Elder Dragons he absorbed. We don’t *know* that’s the reason; that’s just Phlunt’s running theory. This season hasn’t been subtle with inconsistencies in lore or power sets, really. I’m not sure it’s meant to be new. Either way, the dialogue keeps painting this picture of an innate connection between Prim and Jor. So if Primordus gets stronger through more fire and destruction, the opposite must be true for Jormag freezing more of the world. I’m just rambling now lol.
  15. @"Hypnowulf.7403" Jormag has NOT been building Aurene’s self esteem or befriending her. Jormag has been trying to cut down her beliefs and replace them with their own. Jormag keeps trying to define her sense of worth and power by Jormag’s own definition. It’s so transparent that Jormag is attempting to shake her confidence and isolate her and redefine her on their terms. How Jormag believes she “should” be. All Jormag’s “compliments” are always paired with a barb at her. They gaslight her through every exchange and try to twist Aurene’s words/sentiments constantly. That’s not what a real friend, mentor, or potential lover does. It’s what a manipulative and abusive person does to whoever they’re trying to victimize. > @"Randulf.7614" said: > I'm slightly concerned that the "Dragons must no die" seems to have been forgotten by every character in the game. We seem to be leaning towards killing one or both, but no real discussions on the consequences Yes, this has been the biggest issue with Champions for me. I care less about the other issues, and more about this jarring shift in the lore/plot. Even if they wanted to retcon the drive behind the last several years of story, the fact no one’s dwelling on “the balance is fake” is shocking. I’m hoping it comes down to Jormag’s persuasion magic having indoctrinated us somewhat to be more accepting, but at this point... I don’t know. Can’t tell if it’s intentional or not. Next episode *is* called Balance though, so perhaps we’ll get more. Can’t help but think that title is more indicative of the “balance” between Jormag and Primordus though, as was mentioned in such a heavy handed way during this Power release.
