  1. There is no denying the whole decorating system is really wonky.

    I find two particular issues:

     

    1) refresh time of the guild hall. Removing a decoration does not automatically set the decoration count back. As cloudsareyum mentioned, sometimes logging in and out will reset the count and sometimes it will not. I have sometimes had to leave the game completely and come back several hours later. I have also had this be an issue the other way, adding a decoration did not increase the count and so I have put more than the allowed number in an area with the result that when I did need to remove one I could not replace it. There does not seem to be any consistent way to refresh the count which is really frustrating when you are working right up to the allowable limit.

     

    2) the placement point of a decoration. Sometimes it is the anchor point. For instance, pirate flags count from the center of the base which means you can sometimes put things at the top of the flag and not have the two objects count as in the same "area." On the other hand, it seems long pieces of race track have the anchor point at one end but the count point at the other. So sometimes I have been able to game the system by turning the track around. For Ominous walls the anchor point is in the center but I have never figured out where the count point is located - sometimes turning them around allows me to add more decorations and sometimes it does not. And don't get me started on ice walls. I may be placing something on one level and an ice wall 3 levels above me will turn red, meaning it is in the count zone when it should be quite a distance outside.

     

    The only work around I can suggest is logging in and out, try turning large items around and, if you can, get 5 other guildies to log into your guild hall to force a new guild hall instance and refreshed count. And if the place you are decorating is near an entry point sometimes you can log in and quickly sneak in a decoration before other decorations in the area have loaded.

  2. Not till the 19th. sigh, was hoping for it to be released today. I am not particularly excited about it - just excruciatingly bored with the current DRMs. Don't see much in this trailer to excite me but at least it would be something a tiny bit different to do. I do hope there will not be quite so much NPC yaking in this one. Getting really tired of frosty char dude telling me I should be interested in his salient parts.

    Not entirely worthless. Any otters you get after the achieve can be used to trigger the visual effect on any character - whether or not that character has the infusion. So some might want the otters for that reason (although you can get more faster by doing the north meta in drizzlewood)

I'm kind of betting, based on the fact we do not have any other set of weapons anyone has yet datamined and that the dragon slayer weapons recipes were so easy to buy, that on Tuesday when we get the vanguard event we will see recipes at the vendors for the volcanic weapons and dragon slayer weapons boxes will start dropping from missions. Of course, who knows, it would make sense to rotate them like that but not a lot about this release has been logical.

    Indeed, and if they drop down to 10g or less each I will probably do so. But what I WON'T do is play the DRMs over and over hoping for one to drop - that's what I mean by "debacle." I won't waste my time trying to get something and only getting junk I don't want or need. So, sure, I will pay a little gold if they come down in price but what I won't do is waste my time playing the "content."

    Yeah and I'll do the rest of the DRMs once each. But no more than that unless there are some major changes in the reward. Thing is, if it had been the crafted weapons that had given the mastery I would cheerfully keep doing them like I did the strikes because it would have meant gradually working toward a goal. But another teq debacle? no thanks.

  7. I have done the 3 DRMs every night since release but I suspect I am done with them. I don't mind that the three are very similar. What I mind is that there is no real point to them. You get two different currencies which buy the same stuff and, once you get everything they can buy you can get materials to turn in for more of one of the currencies to get more materials for more of the the same currency? What's the point. The craftable weapon set has no mastery but the rare drop one needs 15 for a mastery and you can't collect any kind of currency to get them like you could with runic armor. I fought teq every night for 2 years and got one teq weapon in all that time. I don't think I want to repeat that experience for 15 weapons. So I'll probably play each DRM as they come out once or twice. Other than that I think I have done all I want of this new episode.

  8. I have to admit I was not terribly impressed by this chapter. It feels kind of unfinished. I can understand wanting to add more content in the coming chapters but too much was left unexplained. One of the achievements is to buy vigil supply boxes at eye of the north. but there is no vendor. I assume it will be added later? but there is no explanation. You can't get enough masteries for the new line. I assume that will be added later? but there is no explanation. You can't do the currently last part of the story and we assume it will be added later in some way. But there is no explanation that this is the case. I get that they were going for an gradually unfolding episode but not giving us a bit of information on whether something is upcoming or just plain overlooked and missing makes it feel, well, very underwhelming.

  9. I hope you will accept in game artwork. I don't like just putting decorations around in my guild hall. I like building structures and scenery with just a bit of a story line behind them.

(A guildy has been unsuccessfully trying to find the entrance to this hidden place for over a year in order to deface it with a portrait of Logan Thackery.) Here Boris plans his next great project and, perhaps, plots his conquest over the world.....Bwahahahaha!

    P.S. In case anyone is curious - 140 ominous/corrupted walls, 172 ice walls, 108 Ice floors and 55 large cuboids of snow. I think that comes to 167,000 snowflakes and 140,000 candy corns.
