Well, yeah that's what usually happens. There was a certain amount of hype and it didn't live up to expectations. We knew it was about the living story but with the hype involved we thought there would be more.

Though I'd say the majority of people posting are more disappointed than they are mad.

The main issue I see with Thief is so many structures in WvW reveal you now. It's impossible to fight at all near some enemy towers and keeps, leaving their main role being to gank people near camps and lone roads. It's boring.

Same issue with removing the ability for Thieves and Mesmers to hide in recently captured structures. It used to be that you had to manually sweep and spend some effort to keep things clear, now the game basically plays itself. There's hardly any opportunities to hide, run and fight inside enemy keeps in order to port in your buddies for an epic recapture.

    > The August 30th announcement was **not** intended to be about the future of GW2. It was specifically stated to be [the very first look at an all-new chapter in Guild Wars 2‘s Living World story](https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/join-us-for-a-special-live-event-on-august-30/).

    >

    > Obviously anyone expecting anything more than that was bound to be disappointed.

I mean, they also used https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/dont-miss-our-special-announcement-event/ to advertise it. The wording was very easy to interpret as something more than just the next chapter of the living story.

That and hosting a live event for it made it very easy for people to expect more.

Should people have jumped to conclusions? Probably not.

Should Arenanet have known better and made it clearer that it wasn't something "special"? Yeah, they absolutely should have.

Letting players get overhyped before an announcement is as bad, if not worse than not hyping them up at all.

    >

Whilst it may be easier to balance, this would make the modes considerably less fun to play for me and I would greatly dislike seeing any of it taken into account.

  5. The main issue I see in WvW specifically is that there are too many "You can't touch me" buttons and traits on some professions. For example, the Warrior class being such a heavy hitter has the option to be almost fully immune to conditions whilst also having multiple blocks and full physical damage immunity skills and traits.

If possible, please look into addressing that. At the very least, remove the passive traits that apply these invulnerabilities from classes.

Another issue is that condition applications are so unbalanced, especially since the addition of Resistance as a boon. Some classes can apply and reapply conditions rapidly and to a deadly degree that it made sense to add Resistance as a counter. The problem is that some classes cannot apply conditions as rapidly, for example a full condition Ranger or Thief can apply strong conditions but once cleansed or Resisted, they cannot be applied again for 30+ seconds - leaving you completely neutered.

I'd suggest going over all classes to see if their condition applications are up to par and also make sure Resistance as a boon is readily available on all classes as a counter.

He's thanking Anet for the free "heart of thorns" t-shirt outfit in the gemstore and thinks it's great that all players can get it, especially since lots of people can't/won't the old red guild wars 2 logo t-shirt and the new Aurene one.

He just worded it poorly, lot's of non-native English speakers miss out on context when explaining certain things.

I've given up hoping they'll balance the specs.

At this point I'd rather just have fun with new specs than care about the possible chaos they'd bring.

    > Anet messed up with this event yes. But to act like they markedted this as anything more than a living story announcement is hilarious. The emails literally state "This will be an event to talk about the new living story season."

I don't receive emails from the game so I base my knowledge on the news posts and sometimes reddit.

They made a news post calling it a "special announcement event", which to me implied a little more than just the new living story. They put much more effort into this than they usually do so it's not hard to understand why people jumped to the wrong conclusion.

The fault lies on both sides but I'd personally put most of the blame on Anet for this.

Calling it a "special announcement event", doing a live stage event and having that timer was always going to make people assume it was big. If they'd just called it a bog standard living story announcement and posted the trailer like always then this wouldn't have happened, and Anet know that better than anyone.

Yeah I meant map currency, my bad.

    > Compared to the months of grinding out 50 million xp... and 112 masteries... and the plethora of other mats and collections needed for legendary weapons... you really need to fabricate some issue over this easy to obtain currency? Seriously?

I'm hardly making this a huge issue, I even said I don't care if it gets changed or not and posted this mainly to see where we should draw a line for what should be included in a black lion chest.

I personally disagree with adding map currencies to black lion chests, you don't.

Don't make a mountain out of a molehill when disagreeing with someone online, dude.

    > ...I could go on and add up all the other requirements, but I won’t... Read up yourself and see if some useful rng currencies in bl chests, as opposed to vendor junk, are worth making a fuss over when you add up the entire shopping list of requirements and time investment.

I know all that, that's why I very specifically said "I feel like it removes **part** of the journey of making a legendary weapon."

And again, that part was just my opinion and I felt it was worth a discussion. Considering everyone's different opinions on the matter, I was right about that and if someone from Anet read this thread they'll at least have various points of view on the matter that they can use in future for when they add more things to the chests.

  13. > @"Hyper Cutter.9376" said:

    > ...you know you can't buy the items needed for the gift of insights unless their respective mastery tracks are completed, right?

Yup, but it's still essentially buying map currency with real money.

I just posted to let people know it's there and to voice my opinion on the matter.

I'm not overly bothered by it, but if they do more than this it could get bad. Can you imagine the backlash if they added Raid currencies to the chests?

    > @"Chay.7852" said:

    > Well.. since this thing is a container (means for me one-time-use) and rare i would be rather mad if i get a rare drop and its **This**

It's an uncommon drop, I had 12 keys and 3 or 4 of them dropped for me last night.

Edit: Meant map currency rather than in game currency.

  14. With the addition of https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tyrian_Exchange_Voucher to the black lion chest, you can now buy all of the currency required to make a Gift of Insights without taking part in map events.

Whilst this may be a godsend to some, I feel like it removes part of the journey of making a legendary weapon.

I don't care if it gets changed or not, but I sincerely hope this doesn't become a trend. The game needs to have things earn-able in game that cannot just be bought with enough real money.

    > you don't even play warrior. noone uses warhorn anymore since years. it is completely useless from all this powercreep that happened

    Sure, be condescending, and wrong.

Warhorn is still used in WvW, albeit rarely. It's still worth noting as an alternate weapon unlike offhand sword.

And if you think Spellbreaker is just a subpar duellist, you might want to make sure you understand the class before calling others out.

It's ability to strip boons whilst applying great power damage makes it very useful in group fights and Winds of Disenchantment coupled with Enchantment Collapse make it necessary to have a few around for zerg fights.

  16. Gotta say, I really miss the underwater fights in the quaggan pond on the old WvW borderland maps.

They should have reworked some of the skills years ago instead of shelving it and avoiding underwater content. I was pretty mad (not keyboard rage, just a "why the hell would they do that?") when I played through HoT on Revenant when it was released and got to an underwater portion of a map and half of my skills wouldn't work.

    > Lots of people want 100 blades to be mobile and others are against it claiming that "if 100 Blades were to be mobile then it would be OP."

    > But the claim that a mobile 100 Blades will be over powered is FALSE because we already have whirling axe which is basically a mobile100 Blades that deals 50% more damage than 100 blades and its not even close to being OP.

Offhand axe 5 also has a higher cooldown and you have to give up defense (shield) or mobility (warhorn) for it.

Greatsword already has great cleave abilities and mobility, we can't stack that with whirling axe-like damage.

It's always hilarious to see complaints of other classes being affected by powercreep in the Warrior forum. You guys have played Spellbreaker in WvW/sPvP right?

Warrior will continue to be nerfed (hopefully they nerf the right things) and other classes will continue to be nerfed. Sometimes nerfs are needed, even if it affects the class you love.

On topic, a small cast time reduction to hundred blades would be nice but I don't think it needs to be reworked.
