  1. I do not have Legendary Armor, so my feedback is, Neat.

    I do have a question/statement.

    Is there going to be a way to make Legendary Armor outside of Raiding or WvW or PvP? I say Raid instead of PvE because to get Legendary Armor in WvW and PvP you simply have to play WvW or PvP no specific build required. Raid requires very specific builds to kill a boss due to boss timer, which acts as a DPS check, in a game where using third-party software is not allowed to check your DPS. But hey we have more build templates, neat.

  2. > Raids are a trickier beast. <

    I say do what you did before raids were introduced. Dungeons have story mode and you run paths for harder content. Fractals have levels with increased damage with AR and mechanics. To be honest, everyone I know that did the raids have left the game because of burning out doing the raids. The guild I joined as fallen to about 70 active players when it originally had over 500 active players across 5 guilds. Add Hero Challenges to raids where the harder the challenge the greater the reward, then add a story mode for those who simply play the game for the "Living Story".

  3. Solid input all around.

    My one hang up is the older recipes not reflecting the new game mechanics. I would like to see those updated possibly, but if that is not in the deck that Guild Wars 2 has in store I can leave it at that.

    I do like that if you craft one of the original Legendary Weapons from a precursor that was a drop and not crafted you get a bonus weapon or skin. I have seen people get Wings Of Dwayna crafting the Dreamer as well as seeing people get the Lyssa pistol skin for crafting Chaos pistol.

    > So what you are saying here is that for the last 2 years, we have stable Mystic Coin prices ... so there isn't actually a problem.

    Click on the link they provided - this looks at the steady climb increase since the release of HoT and the change made to dailies.

    2012 = 9 Silver

    2013 = 9 silver

    2014 = 10 silver

    2015 = 13 Silver - Release of HoT

    2016 = 72 Silver

    2017 = 1 Gold 29 Silver - Release of Pof

    2018 = 1 Gold 26 Silver

    I see it as stable Mystic Coin price from 2012 to 2015 - That is 4 years of a game that has been out for 6

    > Yes, the idea is to give players a choice.

    I get your point. It is an "idea" of giving players a choice. The "idea" at the start of Guild Wars 2 was the unidentified dyes was away a new player make gold. Until GW2 changed that "idea" and made it account bound instead soul bound. There was also an "idea" about learning recipes per character if you wanted to craft.

    I also like the "idea" of either changing the old recipes so they do not require Mystic Coins. I also like the "idea" of giving people a choice to be able to get Mystic Coins as a reward Daily chests again and not cap the Achievement points one can earn in a day.

    There are good "ideas" and bad "ideas". I get there is an economy in the game and the devs see things that I do not. The only feedback I get is from guildies and friends in the game working on legendary weapons or armor. I also watch friends burn out running raids in order to get enough mattes to get the legendary armor. I also have friends that do not agree with me because they like making gold off the mystic coins. I see both sides. I just feel a lot of content and rewards that used to be obtainable to all players all levels shift to only the end game. My concern is for those new players and seeing the struggles that have that I did not at their level, because there were other things in the game that could be done to obtain those same rewards, Mystic Coins being one of those items. I am concerned that people are spending real money in order to get to endgame content because they don't want to grind the content, which is a pay to win perspective.

    You are implying that people only use Mystic Coins for Legendary items.

    People play the markets and that is the "Norm" for them.

    Mystic Coins should be something you earn in game and not something given to you for just logging in.

    Thanks for the tip, but knew this one. When the new mount came out these event maps were packed. Now with most people with the mount, those maps are starting to die down again.

    7:30 pm est and 10:30 pm est are my best chances, but I miss the 7:30 pm est map because the map fills up around 7:10 pm est and the overflow map does not typically have enough people before it fails. The 10:30 pm est problem, are the trolls, joining on the people that are advertising to pull people into the map not helping with the event and causing it to fail. The Three-hour window also means 10:30 pm est spawn in Iron Marches is usually the only chance.

    > No crafting is needed anymore you can just buy the + what evers from the bot merchant inside fractals if you have the materials to make them.

    I know how the math works for fractals. I have 4 toons that have builds just for doing fractals. I have spent the time making all the gear and keeping them up-to-date. I also know to run 100 Level Fractals you use potions and food just as you would for WvW.

    My concern is the lack of locations where you can get Mystic Coins. I don't want to just grind WvW and level 100 Fractals. I want to do events with my guild and people in the Tyria and get Mystic Coins as a reward for running those larger events.

    >

    I do not mind working to get Mystic Coins. I do mind the lack of places to get them nowadays.

    Perspective -

    Level 100 Fractal - 150 AR recommended - Full Ascended recommended - Lots of gold needed to buy or forge high enough AR to get there, including level 500 crafting.

    Gold and Diamond WvW - Fully geared recommend for WvW at this level, not the same stats and Fractals - Yes they are different if you are serious about WvW

    I would rather have more options to get Mystic Coins, the options right now are limited. They fixed Leather and Cloth when the price of those was skyrocketing.

    Now it is time to fix Mystic Coins.

    Also, the sign that people have multiple accounts to get Mystic Coins, is a sign that it is broken.

  11. > @"DaFishBob.6518" said:

    > I'm trying to understand what that situation you outlined has to do with mystic coins seeing as mystic coins are not among the things you would need to survive.

    It is a metaphor. At what point does it become such a grind that is all there is. At what point do you just stop playing because that is all it is.

  12. Mystic Coins have reached a level like the Laurels. You do not need 250 Laurels to make any legendaries. Laurels are an item that has a low drop rate because they can be used as currency to buy those additional mattes to craft or that buff you might need. You also cannot sell Laurels on the TP.

    # Mystic Coins

    * Used to drop from each daily

    * Used to drop for major events daily chest

    * Used to drop from WvW and PvP reward track

    * Used to drop from the Mystic Chest in Fractals

    Yes, there are older items in the game that require these still to make.

    Yes, there are players that have been playing for years and years and remember when the drop rate was good, me being one of them.

    Yes, Guild Wars 2 added new recipes that require 250 Mystic Coins to craft such items

    Yes, Guild Wars 2 did change the drop rate where you could get Mystic Coins as a reward

    Yes, Legendary Weapons and Armor are expensive to make, taking 250 of lots of mattes and lots of time spending farming those mattes.

    Yes, I know of people that buy additional copies of the game when they are on sale in order to farm Mystic Coins to sell them on the TP because they are inflated enough to offset the cost of the game they bought to flip that gold back to gems.

    Do I feel that the drop rate for Mystic Coins is broken?

    Yes

    Take a moment to imagine you are in Queensdale. A person stands you at a table and says what items you would need to survive. You look around you have plenty of water and there are three farms you can use for food. You snag the weapons and armor you would need to defend yourself from the Ettins, Bandits, and Harpes. You might grab a mount to get around faster and a glider in case you fall. They then blindfold you and drop you into a Desert, they pat you on the back and say good luck. You survive for a little while, but soon due to the lack of water, you succumb to your wounds.

  13. I like the idea of earning them in other ways outside of the participation award for logging into the game. Either through reward tracks or even using the forge in some way to make them like you can with Gemstones or Mystic Clovers.

    Maybe add them to the reward chests

    1. World Bosses

    2. Dungeon Frequenter chest

    3. Lower Fractal levels outside of just level 100

    4. PvP or WvW Mystic reward track for those players just sticking to those two areas

    5. Forge Recipe - Drop these items into the forge for a chance of getting the Mystic Chest

    There is so much content and so much to do in the game it would get people to move around all the maps and work on those meta's or encourage players more to do events on the older maps to help all the new players that are leveling and still learning the game. World Boss trains are starting to get smaller because the rewards feel like they have been nerfed, but those trains got people into those maps. It would also show the new players just getting into the game how amazing those map events can be.

    I love Guild Wars 2 and it is always the game I first start up when I get home. I just feel there is so much content now that is time-gated behind because of the Mystic Coins. Yes, you could farm for gold and you could buy additional copies of the game to get that participation reward, but that is not what the game is about. I feel it is about exploring the amazing world Arena net has made with all the map events and story. Finding that hidden cave that you have never seen before even after playing the game for 6 years to only have that reward of an amazing waterfall or sun rays coming through the canopy. Working that achievement track with the lore they have spent so much time working on and adding to all the maps for you explore or talk to new NPC's. It is about getting that epic drop in a fractal and linking that item into the guild chat to show it off. It is about playing these massive map events that encourage players to work together to finish the map meta or get that rare drop to finish off a collection. I just wish more of that content had a drop rate or even a reward that would include dropping Mystic Coins, outside of that .0001% chance you might see one drop.

To say that Mystic Coins Drop rate is fine and that they are only used for the few legendary weapons, Backpieces, and armor. Would say that there are more than 1,000 legendary items in the game? I can say no there is not, so why are legendary items dictating the drop rate.

    > >

    >

    > Because Legendary weapons/armor are the only thing they're consistently spent on. Lets break down each category....

    >

    > Equipment: Mostly Weapon skins, many of which aren't that popular. Only needs to be unlocked once now thanks to wardrobe

    > Clovers: used in ALL legendary promotions in some amount or other, and an extra stack of 250 for any gen 2 legendary

    > Food: Only used to create Feast Recipes- only needs to be used once per recipe needing to be learned, and of those, there are around a dozen and a half that are used with any real frequency.

    > Armor in bulk: Used in the production of Satchels and Armor box recipes. Almost never used because theres never any material savings for doing so, and are limited to exotics.

    > Guild Hall upgrades: Only needs to be done once per guild, but requires a fairly large amount. However, due to cost distribution across the guild, this is seen more of a gold value sunk as opposed to a need for coin production.

    > Other: Used in the production of Aura Shoulder pieces, winters day runes, and promotion/demotion of mist essence (which is now deprecated in light of the Fractal Vendors). aside from the last, these are all gold/material sinks, most of which predate the daily login change that caused coin prices to reach their current value (and why they demand a full stack).

    >

    > Whenever a new legendary weapon gets added, prices jump depending on how popular it is. When legendary armor was added, coin prices jumped for their production. Same happened with PvP/WvW versions, except that surge was padded by the realization of how long it would take to produce a set, and each mode offering alternative methods of getting clovers to offset the upfront cost.

    >

    > See...... unlike the other recipes, Legendary gear is effectively an inevitable item you'll be seeking for one or more of your Alts . Think about it.... once you've effectively geared up all your characters, the only 2 things left that have a long term value is Fashion wars and QOL improvements; and both something legendary gear fits into. Gold sinks in Fashion wars are things like infusions, auras, collections, or the skin market on TP, maybe dyes, and/or Crafted skins. Legendary gear is the ultimate QOL in the current system, effectively being the "be all, end all" of Stat management, and completely future proofs you for new stat combos.

    >

    > The irony here is that the increase in coin prices actually make the other non-legendary recipes less desirable, due to the higher cost it adds to the total, and thus affects Rate of Return/ long term Cost savings. So aside from a hand full of MF skins that require coins to make, and a dozen and a half feast recipes, (both of which are marginal by comparison) the rest of the coin demand is almost entirely tied up with Legendary gear and Guildhall upgrades. And of everything listed, only Legendary gear (mainly weapons) are getting new recipes added to spark new waves of demand. Most new foods are account bound, or don't have associated feast recipes. Ascended gear has made crafting Exotic gear a waste of the rare materials used in their production (plus account bound). Seasonal projects are just gold sinks.

    >

    > So tell me..... of those 1000+ recipes, how many have real demand associated with them?

    That is my Point. The Non-Legendary Items which some items go along with the lore are less desirable because the drop rate for Mystic Coins is broken. Just imagine if the Mystic Coin dropped in each daily chest like it used to. What do you think would happen. Or this what happens if the PvP currency or the WvW currency that you need for legendary weapons or armor you could only get them in your daily login like Mystic Coins. Look at those on the Trading post some day, since Arena Net did not change the drop rate on those and they are still needed for crafting legendary items, the price of those has jumped maybe 2 silver in WvW, and possibley 5 copper in PvP.... So demand you say?

  15. This is about Mystic Coins right? Not about reward tracks in PvP and WvW which do not give you Mystic Coins...There was a reward track in PvP and WvW that did drop mystic coins though but did go away with HoT and it was not in the final chest but the steps in the middle. They give you clovers.

    A bit of perspective here is the Wiki and here are all the recipes that use Mystic Coins

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Coin

    * 84 Equipment

    * 178 Food Recipes

    * 340 Armor Recipes

    * 14 Guild Hall Upgrades

    * 23 other Recipes

    That is almost 1,000 Recipes that require between 1 to 250 of Mystic Coins to learn or craft. To say that Mystic Coins Drop rate is fine and that they are only used for the few legendary weapons, Backpieces, and armor. Would say that there are more than 1,000 legendary items in the game? You get one choice in the game now. If you want to take part of any of that content, you can either wait and farm "END GAME" content OR you can farm gold (AKA grind farming) to buy Mystic Coins off the TP. Oh by the way before HoT, you could not sell them on the TP. They were worth less copper on the TP than it was to vendor them. What Arena Net did was take a currency that was worthless for those who have been playing the game since launch, when they need gold they can sell them. Whoever thinks that Mystic Coins drop rate is fine is sitting on a stack of them and uses them to make gold by selling them on the TP.

    Mystic Coins used to drop from each Daily and Monthy. I always felt the Monthly would encourage people to work in WvW to get the 1000 kills or 100 keep captures, but it could be stretched over time. The recent event had not been updated and it was still dropping Mystic Coins.

    There are more recipes that require Mystic Coins than just Legendary Weapons.
