It's by far the most complex profession in the entire game and it's the least beginner friendly profession.

    >

    > But if you are comfortable with your keybinds and if you are up for the challenge, then play guardian, elementalist, mesmer and engineer. You can save engineer for last due to how complex the profession is. Unless you're one of those scrubs that plays the dumbed down Holosmith which is 10 times easier to play than core engineer and then you have the players like me hating the Holosmith because it took core engineers' skill cap and reduced it.

This may a bit more biased than helpful about the engineer. While he is right about the Holosmith being easier to play than the core engineer, if you have an instant level 80 item and really want to play the engineer, the Holosmith is a good beginning option.

It doesn't take long to acquire the points for the Holosmith specialty and it is a good introduction to the engineer. It can give you the basics of engi play and then you can graduate to the more nuanced and complex engi builds that do require the most skill in game.

That being said, many people like the Holosmith for the Photon Forge abilities and the type of play it offers them. There is nothing wrong with the Holosmith at all, it is just a different way of playing the Engineer just like all specialties are different for each class. Not all are optimal, but depending on what you want to do, they don't have to be optimal.

Me too but they won't do it. They are hoping you buy a lot of the things they offer first and deplete your gems.

Many people will opt to spend RL money toward the end of the month after they have spent their gems and have run low on gold buying gems.

  4. There are very few people who enjoy all three modes of the game.

Myself, I love PvE. Can take or leave WvW. Hate PvP.

What I don't do is complain about requirements to complete in game tasks for things I want.

I'll gladly do PvP if there is something I want that requires it. It's part of the game.

Don't want to do it? Learn to live without the item/achievement/etc. that requires it.

  5. Nope. And I was asked once.

The toon in question has my first name.

The guy asking said, "Come on, it is my name in real life."

I replied, "And you think I chose it because it ISN'T mine?"

Guy asking again, "Listen, I have had that name in every game I've played."

    Me again, "Me too."

Guy asking, "You're just being stupid."

Me, "I said no. I'm keeping the name."

    Guy asking, "%$#&!)$#%*#$(*&$ you!"

    Block.

I work hard on my names, even that one. Logged on the first second I could at the head start of GW2 to get the name. I wouldn't give one of mine up.

    > If you want more tabs for QoL ( avoid yo waste time ), then you should probably manage better your 14 tabs. I mean, Since there are no more extra tabs, it would be better to realize what is essential inside your bank and what's not.

    >

    >

Considering you don't know what other players do or do not have or what is important for them to keep and where, it is awfully presumptuous telling someone that they should manage their tabs better.

The truth is, players have much different approaches to the game and what they keep. Who are you and I or anyone else to tell anyone how to "manage" their storage.

I for one would love to see extra bank slots. I hate switching to mules to get something I would love to have in the bank already but cannot due to space considerations.

  7. The game is fine. One small shred of evidence is the large amount of traffic here and on reddit. Both only encompass a small portion of the actual players as most people don't care about posting in game forums. So I would say GW2 is doing well.

I believe that it will be dwindling when we see an announcement for GW3.

    >

You keep asking for this thread to die, but you keep posting...

Also, just because you don't believe in the occult, demons, or the like doesn't mean that other people share your disbelief. You claiming that these things are not real is no more evidence of their non-existence than their assertions that they are. It says more about you than it does them that you are mocking their beliefs. I haven't seen one of the people who seem to believe in these things here call you stupid like you have them because you don't believe as they do. Live and let live.

Taimi is just OK with me, but your answer doesn't answer the question of WHY you hate Taimi.

  10. I have a lot of 80's and for many reasons.

My goal was to have one of each class of each race.

I enjoy playing several classes and builds so I don't have to change for each build I want to play.

I enjoy character creation. Not just fashion wars but designing the toon itself.

I also wanted to level every race with the different personal choices, order classes, etc.

I also WvW on occasion and have toons dedicated to WvW builds and play.

  11. If I am forced to choose, it would be the first game as the story is my favorite part of any game. GW's story was much better crafted.

That being said, it is like comparing apples to oranges for me. The games are completely different but set in the same world.

    Both games are amazing IMO.

    >

    > This is where your reasoning fails : _overwhelm the early demand_. That's not a simple offer/demand question, because the same people can alter both offer and demand the way they please. So the TP could have not crunched.

    >

    > Just ask yourself : demand by whom ?

    >

    > The final destination of flakes are probably a NPC vendor or a craft station. Flakes have no value for themselves as gear would. And who controls the costs in those specific places (demand) ? The very same people that evaporated the stockpile (offer). Those very people that could have just kept the overall amount of flakes ingame, and adapt the crafting and NPC costs accordingly to keep the economy healthy.

    >

    > And spare us all that drama.

You may not like Illconceived Was Na's reasoning, maybe you don't understand it, or maybe you simple don't disagree. I happen to agree with IWN. Keeping supply manageable with the conversion as it is kept the TP from being flooded with the new snowflakes. Also, Anet sets the economy and conversions of anything in game. I don't always understand it, but I am not there to be abreast of why they make any of their calls. In this, I certainly feel most people are making a huge mountain out of a mole hill.

And using a pot shot like "spare us all that drama" is trite and fosters its own drama. Pot meet kettle.

  13. I like the rating of this episode so I will join in:

Story: 9/10 I enjoyed everything about this story except the part of the final instance. It was very long and the trash mobs you encounter felt too over the top for me. I don't mind a challenge, but this seemed to be excess. I liked the instance and the story with the exception of

    Braham. Can't stand him.

. Also it was a bit long overall. This may sound like complaining but I very much enjoyed the story as a whole and thank you for a good time.

Map: 11/10. This is hands down my favorite map in game. Not because it is new, but because it is beautiful and nostalgic. A+++ job Anet!

Events: 9/10. The map is chock full of events but it doesn't feel like you can't take a rest and enjoy the view like I felt much of the time in the HoT maps.

    Humor: 10/10. Kamadan. Enough said.

Supporting Characters: 8/10. It would have been 10/10 but

    Braham

The way each profession has a unique way of breaking out of prison in the second to last instance is awesome. Please do more of this!

It does say something different if you have Astralaria. It says something to the effect,

    This feels familiar to you.

    > * ArenaNet could try to encapsulate all those things in a specialization, but it's very unlikely that they would be able to implement those concepts properly using just an existing weapon and a half dozen new skills.

I agree with you here. But just as professions have changed in the last 250 years, why couldn't the Paragon's and Dervishes? I think both could have been easily incorporated as specializations. As Sir Vincent III said below (sort of) the RENEGADE calls on the powers of legendary entities instead of the gods. This easily could have been incorporated into lore as what the Dervishes turned into and called the specialization Dervish instead of Renegade.

Likewise the Spellbreaker could have been named Paragon instead considering that is what the Sunspears turned into.

    > @"Sir Vincent III.1286" said:

    > The concept of the Dervish is now put into the Revenant. Just like the Dervish calls the power of the human gods, the Revenant calls the power of legendary entities. The real question is, why the Revenant didn't start with a Scythe?

Good call, except I think you meant Renegade instead of Revenant.

  15. I do a lot of gathering with the UM tools. It has been great for me especially when I farm Bitterfrost and the other LS3 maps. I farm those areas regularly so that rubies, winterberries, etc. are not a bottleneck for me. I also have purchased all the nodes for my home instance to gain even more.

With unbound magic I have been able to purchase most of my ascended trinkets without ever having to use laurels, guild commendations, or other currencies that I can use for other things.

For me, the UM tools have been great.

It's subjective, but many of those people "comforting" Anet IMO actually believe what they say as much as you do. Some of them may just have more class than some of the people posting toxic and hateful things. Criticism is fine as long as it is constructive. When it descends into name calling and hateful hysteria, it is not criticism but going off the rails.

I agree with you for the most part. However, the posts that any company takes seriously are those that offer mature and thoughtful criticism without telling the company how awful they are. You are 100% right that a company will gain a lot of info and perspective with criticism, but they rarely pay attention to people railing against them.

Same on the outfits and gliders.

I have purchased one or two armors mainly because I wanted individual pieces and could only get them as a set.

I have purchased two or three weapon skins.

I have purchased two of the spectacles.

    > ##### Utilities

I have purchased the same as you have IWN. I have also purchased the Silver-Fed as well. I still have the Royal Terrace in a shared slot along with the Mistlock Sanctuary and the Elon Invitation. I use each for different reasons. The Royal Terrace will be especially nice during Wintersday.

    ##### Black Lion Keys & Mount Unlocks

I have purchased quite a bit of BL Keys and one 10 pack of Mount Skin Unlocks which will be the end of my mount skin purchases as I am not happy with the RNG aspect of the mount skins. I guess I was happy enough to buy some. *shrug*

Secondly, if you actually read my post instead of skimming it for key words to admonish with, you would understand that I think that those of you responding snidely about the mount skins as you have are being ridiculous.

I agree with the OP. Anet deserves love for the amazing game they created.
