  1. Learning that world 3 and 4 is in the works is the best news I've heard since... since expansion 3 was announced I guess.

    World 2 zone 1 probably, mainly because of the amount of secret rooms and moving platforms.

    More than anything I want to see new world, but if I had to pick something outside of that... Perhaps something that stays on the "classic video game experience" theme.

     

     

  2. Honestly not a fan of the changes to chemical field on Engineer with PvE in mind. While Detection pulse is great in WvW and PvP (in very specific situations), it does not even work on most invisible PvE mobs and have no practical aplication in that gamemode.

    Taking the CD reset for healing skills instead of the shield trait would also let you pop that heal more often. I wonder, does that make experimental turrets or that heal on blast trait worth it?

  4. Holosmith currently sees a lot of use in PvP, WvW and PvE over scrapper. Lets see some some changes to that spec line first, or changes that help boost it in other lines.

    For example, move juggernaut to alchemy (maybe replacing the grantmaster trait that spawns a single tonic when you use a healing skill), that way we could see some firearms-alchemy-scrapper bunker-condi builds for WvW/PvP.

Ever since they swapped the focus of flamethrower from power to condi, the kit have had one big problem; It want both Juggernaut and Incideary powder, but the two traits are compeating with eachother as grandmaster traits in firearms. If we say Juggernaut moved to inventions or alchemy, the kit would have a better chance in pvp formats.

     

    It would still need some form of damage reduction against retaliation tho.

    OOh absolutely, you'd give up mortar kit and the whole tools line. Besides, if you want to play Holosmith, my suggestion does not involve much playing since you never want to enter Photon forge in the first place.

     

     

    In conclusion: Holosmith is bad for pure condi, maybe there is a chance for Hybrid, but some of engineers top condi traits compeats with their top power traits, like modified ammunition and Incidiary powder. So I doubt Hybrid will work better than pure power.

  7. The main problem with Codi holosmith is how Photon Forge have no good Condition skills. Your best option is Photon Blitz that applies 8x1sec burning, or 8 sec worth of burning, 16 if you have 100%. While 16 sec of burning is not horrible, it is far from worth the 6 sec you are stuck in Photon Forge. The only other burning you get while in the Photon Forge is the 2x2sec for entering from SFL (or 2x4sec / 8sec with 100% burn durration), and TRV for 3 sec when dodging with >15% heat (or 6 sec with 100% burn durration).

     

    Compear this to some other engineer burning skills (total burn with 100% burn curration in parentacies)

    Blow torch: 4x5sec burning (40 sec total burning)

    Napalm: 10x2.5sec burning (50 sec total burning)

    Fire Bomb 4x4sec burning (32 sec total burning)

     

    The only skill on Holosmith that even gets close to this is Prime Light Beam (10x3sec). So I could see a burning build that runs PBM just to keep the heat above 50% and only enters photon forge before combat so Prime Light Beam is always leaving a burnfield.

  8. Clearly Anet is not against support specs that also deals good damage, just look at tempest, scourge and firebrand. We can have good ranged dps and support in one elite spec.

     

    On topic, I do like the idea of a rocketeer, maybe another name. The class mechanic does not need to replace 4 toolbelt skills tho, it can be boiled down to a single key that you press like dodge (moving left sends you left). Lets say F5 since they seems to prefear that with Holosmith.

     

    The spec seems quite heavily focused on projectile combo finishers, so I'd suggest finding space for this kinds of traits:

    * Deal more damage to enemies standing in combo fields.

    * Leave a firefield behind whenever you rocket-dash

    * If your projectiles would be blocked, destroyed or reflected, it instead shatters dealing damage in a cone back where it came from.

     

     

    I do not like the idea of an auto attack that requires channel tho, I think engineers needs something that fires quicker to be different from rifle or pistol attacks. A longbow/shorbow that fires explosive arrows seems fitting for this elite spec.
