  1. One of my statics runs a heal ele on many bosses, so our comp looks like:

    Party 1: cps, chrono, 2x dps

    Party 2: cps, chrono, 2x dps

    Party 3: druid

    Party 4: heal ele

    This makes things a lot easier because the heal ele keeps soothing mist on us and can heal in a wider area than druid. It tends to be good on stuff that moves a lot, or requires people to spread out. It tends to be bad on stuff with a high dps check because it adds no dps. Specific fights that I like it are VG, Sloth, Matt, Cairn.

    There was also a comp that showed up on reddit a while ago that we'd been messing around with. I have a heal renegade with altruism runes for fury uptime, and we took 2 firebrands in dps gear that just went a little bit into quickness. We completed the subsquad with a cps and 1 dps (I think soulbeast is best). This is a little more restrictive, and we're not entirely sure how to optimize it, but it can work if you can't find a 2nd chrono.

  2. It is true that you cannot make full use of the jackal in core tyria which makes it a bit weaker than other mounts, but I think that's ok. The mounts don't need to be balanced. They designed it to be interesting in PoF, and then allowed us to use them in core tyria because they learned from gliding that taking that movement ability away after we get a taste is very irritating.

    > Meaning jackal's level 3 mastery should have been something else in POF if the idea was to have mounts available everywhere.

    Making all of the mount abilities useful everywhere would have restricted the design space significantly. The jackals ability opened up their map design to include secluded and secret places that greatly enhanced my PoF experience, so I'm happy with the design.

    Also, the jackal does have a place in core tyria: it is the fastest when going up hills. The raptor's jump gets cut short if you run into ground. The jackal's teleport can go up hills just fine.

  3. You should make sure you have the following buffs if testing on the golem in the training area:

    * 25 Might

    * Fury

    * Quickness

    * Swiftness

    * Regeneration

    * Alacrity

    * Spotter

    * Sun Spirit

    * Frost Spirit

    * 5 Grace of the Land

    * Banner of Strength

    * Banner of Discipline

    * Empower Allies

    * Food (eg Rare Veggie Pizza)

    * Utilities (eg Toxic Focusing Crystals)

    Also make sure the golem has all conditions.

    This is the scenario that people get numbers like 26,000 that they compare builds with. If you're in open world attacking random mobs then 2600 is reasonable, especially if there are periods of time that you are in combat and not attacking. ArcDPS measures your dps since you first entered combat, so periods of being in combat without attacking dramatically lower dps shown.

    I don't see how posting optimized builds and rotations that let you practice and ultimately improve your own gameplay is bad for the community. They are clear that their benchmarks are from a speedrunning perspective and that there are other builds which can work. Anybody who is not able to think critically about the builds and adapt the builds/rotations to each encounter is not going to progress far in raids.

  5. I raided the first day on spellbreaker. I spent a while optimizing the rotation and practicing to give it a solid try, and it sucked.

    Saturday I tried out weaver. It's very strong. That was the first time I've seen ele dps above 40k on KC in a long time. This was with skrewing up my rotation frequently and not really using my fgs at the right time.

    Tuesday I played soulbeast and my impression was that it was a decent dps choice, but not great. It has good dps by HoT standards but is outclassed by other new builds. Also it doesn't bring any utility besides the ability to bring sun spirit.

    I haven't played it yet, but firebrand is also very strong. A number of my friends have been playing it and things in fractals and raids have been melting.

    It's going to be extremely strong on kc. I don't know why you'd think otherwise. Firebrand burst is insane.

    Other builds that I've seen but haven't played - scourge seems strong with the ability to do good personal dps and also bring epi, condi renegade is also good, and holosmith did decent dps the first day.

    I also played a heal renegade which is quite fun.

  6. I'm actually pretty happy about this. One thing I learned in HoT is that it is much better to sell mats right away when the demand is high, and then buy them later once the price has stabilized. This'll make it much easier to enact that plan because I won't be accidentally depositing my mats all the time.
