Which CPU?

Hello, I am building secondary PC from old parts and I am wondering which CPU is better for GW2. My options are AMD Phenom II x4 945 and AMD FX6100

GW2 makes only very limited use of multiple cores.

Higher single core speed boost GW2, more cores do not.

These two CPUs will perform at equal levels.

 

The FX has only 80% of the IPC performance of the Phenom II but clocks 20% higher (allcore Turbo: 3,6GHz FX vs. 3,0GHz Phenom II). So at the end of the day you get the same fps in games where more than 4 cores don't matter.

 

I would use the FX because it consumes less power and has more headroom in terms of threads.

Ok, thanks for your answers. I suspected that it will be almost no difference between these two but its is nice to have second opinion.

Hi, I have phenom 965 clocked to 4328 and it is perfectly playable but you will see drops to 18 fps in some areas. It's getting to the point for me though that I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. To get a feel for relative perf I get 50 fps at max settings with witcher 3.
