Camera Stutter (not fps drop)

Recommended Posts

Recently upgraded to a AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Processor and MSI Gaming AMD Ryzen X370 Motherboard from my Intel Core i5 6600K 3.90 GHz and ASUS 1151 Motherboard Z170-E.

My GPU, Geforce GTX 1060 6gb, hasn't changed, same with memory cards and PSU.

Issue manifests in no fps drop, but a stutter that is nauseating when rotating the camera. More noticeable when on mount and camera clipping on terrain. Moving straight does not seem to have an effect.

Other games that have difficulty is Divinity Original Sin 2. Same issue. No FPS drop, but there is a stutter when rotating, a little when moving, the camera.

Lowering the graphics does have an improvement, but stutter is still present though diminished.

What I've tried: Clean install of Windows 10, subsequent update of all drivers, reinstall of all associated games.

Am I missing something when it comes to upgrading motherboards and CPU's? My build is compatible, perhaps I missed a step?

At this point any possible solution would be helpful just to keep the hope alive. This is clearly beyond me and any forum I scoured has turned into dead ends.

Well - your 'upgrade' was in fact a downgrade relating to GW2.

You dropped about 20% single-thread-performance compared to your old Intel i5-6600K

You can check this out here:

[https://cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-6600K+%40+3.50GHz](https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-6600K+%40+3.50GHz "https://cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-6600K+%40+3.50GHz")

Gw2 is heavily tied to single-thread-performance - 4/6/8 cores doesn't really matter in GW2

Thanks for the reply. That must mean everyone with a 1700x should be having as horrible camera movement as me. Ill look into the forums later because this must be a huge widespread problem.

Edit- Looked into it. Youre describing GW as a DX 9 game that does not have good performance with multi-core CPUs. Im not having performance difficulties such as fps drops from my last cpu (I lost 4fps, no biggy...). It's a stutter when moving the camera that makes the game nauseating. A difficulty that others are not having with the 1700x.

Still stumped.

well for me it works perfect on w10 but i hate w10 for obvious reasons.

On w7/w8.1 seems to work perfect when i drop shadow settings.

good luck with your new system
