"Hold the Line" in the Side Story, Conservation of Magic

I do not understand the meaning when it says by not allowing any accumulated ley-line magic to be absorbed by dragon minions. Does it really mean these balls of energy should take 0 damage from monsters as showcased in the bar in the event?

To get this achievement, don't let the minions during the first event absorb any energy from the Accumulated Ley Energy mobs. The minions will target you over the sparks, so run around and tag them to keep them interested in you instead. If the event completes with no energy absorbed, you get the achievement.
