Why is Taunt not working properly in PvE?

This has been on my mind pretty much since the condition was introduced and i'm sad that not a single patch has adressed it so far.

 

Taunt was supposed to be the opposite effect of Fear, as in the inflicted creature gets interrupted and starts attacking the target that used Taunt on them.

In theory this is fine and i think in PvP at least it works, in PvE however it seems to have no real effect.

 

While creatures get the "Interrupted" prompt shown above them and corresponding effects will trigger, on the mesmer for example, neither does a real interrupt happen, nor does the creature start attacking, for example, the Illusionary Defender exclusively.

In fact, nothing much seems to happen, aside the mentioned interrupt trigger.

 

Am i the only one experiencing this? Is anyone else bothered by it?

It takes a condition that many had asked for for a long time, before it's release, and in the one area where it should excel it pretty much fails completely.
