jia li ng.8415
The proposal of refined Daily Achievements remedies all the ills. Repeating the Example: Newly created accounts with character levels below 15 have separate daily achievements on the 1-15 maps with everything from foraging, mining, logging, events, and jumping puzzles. Once that account reaches the threshold of a character level 16 participation in these events would no longer be available. Players accounts who have characters 16-34 would then be given appropriate level tasks and zones to complete their daily achievements (F2P players have no access to Lions Arch until level 35) of foraging, mining, logging, events, and jumping puzzles, after gaining level 35 participation in these sets of dailies is no longer available. Once a player character reaches 35 on their account and gains access to Lion's Arch the ability to participate in the daily activity achievement as well. What this introduces is a further balancing to the game, level 80 characters would no longer need to acquire their daily achievements in zones lower than 35. By doing this system of balancing a player could still purchase Heart of Thorns and or Path of Fire, but the moment they use a level booster to rush to level 80, zones lower than 34 would no longer be required for the completion of daily achievements. By implementation it becomes a forced progression, and the population would move accordingly to zones where they can enjoy their unstifled freedom. It allows the use of mounts in level 1-15 zones, but not toward the daily achievement. This proposal is a better compromise for everyone.
Just a flesh wound.3589
I would back the removal of low level daily events from accounts with higher level chars. I flat refuse to do daily events on low level maps on high level chars since they changed the system years ago because scaling is so bad. Let the daily events for higher level chars start up at level 35 maps at least.
Veprovina.4876
So we're totally past mounts and the very essence of OP's post and are digressing to a totally different topic not relevant to the thread? Yeah, that's cool.

It leaves people with the option to still map areas with mounts, but eliminates their need to be in low level areas for anything else. The low level people go about their business unphased and the occasional mounted player won't get in the way.
Just a flesh wound.3589
Yeah. Changing the daily events is a valid topic of discussion but it’s not the point of this thread, which is total removal of mounts from low level maps. The OP should make a separate thread for this. Is it really worth the amount of coding for what's essentially a few day's work to pass for most people?

Probably not. But it's still a much fairer deal then snatching mounts away.
Pockethole.5031
Are mounts necessary? I think they are, yes. I still haven't bought PoF but I intend to once I have the money. People have been asking for mounts forever, and finally we get them, it also puts GW2 in a (more) better position compared to things like WoW. (because GW2 was better from the start, and mounts was a push forward) Oftentimes mounts jump over me or rush ahead, and events are more hectic but it doesn't really bother me. I'm not really sure what's the problem here.
Just a flesh wound.3589
As Pockethole said, mounts are necessary in starter maps. The game needs to do better to pull more paying customers in. Mounts are a big and expected feature for many players. Adding mounts can only help to attract players and seeing mounts in the starter zones encourages the f2p to buy expansions in order to get mounts. For these reasons removal of mounts would hurt the game by hurting sales as the low level maps would be less exciting for the new players and they would be less likely to continue playing. So the OP’s request to remove mounts and gliders from low level maps would decrease retaining players and decrease expansion sales to f2p, and thus would hurt the game. blambidy.3216
They are when you have more then one character and want to map the same maps faster for completion. But doing it again on foot is just slow and wastes your life span when you can do it much faster. As for needing it to get away from mobs I never used the mount for that. If a mob comes at me I kill it. I use the mount simply just to go places faster but not because I need to get away.
Lexi.1398
IMO - make mounts deal very low damage in excusively starter maps, a buff or something like "Brooding" which makes their engage attack do less damage than auto attacks - description of buff being something like "Your mount's engage skill has reduced damage in this area"- idea being they don't want to kill anything to teach younguns, but the function being to make it fairer and better experience for new players. Largely, the engage skill is used to just sweep up enemies - as if that didn't happen enough without mounts making new players give up on events.
