Condi engi(Firearms)

Nades/bombs(Explosives)

nades dmg is a joke. bombs are useless in pvp and you have no other dps options as core engi. add some defensive traits in these trait lines. holocrap has heat therapy(basicly better version of backpack regen trait) and condi cleanse. core engi has 0 sustain traits in offensive trait lines. only thing you get is an hp trait in explosives and it does not help much.

Lot of things. Most of our kits are pretty woeful in PvP now (Nades, bombs, tool kit, flamethrower, Medkit LUL). Many of our core weapons are also really woeful (pistol is truly awful in PvP right now, shield is underwhelming). Our elixirs (except for S) are almost completely outshined by scrapper gyros. Our offensive turrets are laughable. Some of our inventions are useful -- IE slick shoes and rocket boots, but throw mine is still a joke.

 

We're also all railroaded into using Alchemy in PvP because it is our only traitline that has defensive traits.

I play core necro and I feel just great! =) =) =) Cheerup guys! Just gitgud.

...Ok. Just trolling. I tried core engi in pvp, and in conjunction that with a fact that I suck in pvp it's terrible experience.

No real impact on the team fights and looses with every class there. :/ And when I play with core necro it's so damn easy compared to engi.

Core engineer has some of the most confusing design I've seen in a game. It's a bunch of random, disparate ideas thrown together into a class. That some players can make something meaningful out of it says more about the players than the class design.

BTW. Are there any updated core engi pvp guides? I mean I run simple build, but I'm confused what to maximize, what skills utilize to fully utilize my weapon (rifle in my case)? Last weekend I had few good plays, but I feel I'm doing something wrong, cause the amount of effort I put just to float in unranked pvp is tremendous in opposite to Sunday dinner easy mode I have with necro.

You pretty much summarized t\he current issue with core, engi, too much effort, and not rewarding at all.

Many skills/utilities do somethink amazing!.... but only one thing, one thing, and its in a nasty cd, so you use that amazing skill, your enemy removes it like it was nothing and.... now what?, now you run for your life.

If you're using rifle, you're going CC-power build (Soldier/marauder/knights stats depending on your comfort level). If that's the case, then your best bet for damage are grenades, which are sadly vulnerable to projectile hate, switching back to rifle for CC/control. Bomb kit is an alternative to grenades, but it relies on an enemy not understanding how the bombs work and sitting still. You'll probably want rocket boots for the ability to engage/disengage, and elixir kit for its #5 and #4 combo + condi cleanse and stunbreak. Elixir X would be your best bet for an offensive elite, and supply crate for a more defensive elite with a condi cleanse.

 

Oh, and this goes without saying, but healing turret. too.

Core Engie used to be quite wonderful for condi.

 

Used to take Inventions, Firearms, and Alchemy with pistol, pistol. Take healing turrent, flamethrower, toolkit, rocket boots and either elixir s or slick shoes.

 

But with the changes to some of the traits and overbuffed specs its a shell of it's former self.

It might be somewhat silly -- it focuses on being a nuisance via dodging, crits, CC's, and nades. But it should synergize fairly well once you get the hang of it. It's basically a non-holo version of the current dodge build that's rolling around the engineer forum. The primary drawback is you have fewer stunbreaks and no stealth like the holo build. You also don't have access to the holo damage/cc/stability, so you're way more vulnerable.

You are playing against some bad scourges if you're winning as a p/p engi.

That build is ok for damage, but it'll leave you really vulnerable to conditions and CC's. There's no stunbreaks or condi removal besides healing turret.
