Loosmaster.8263
You get some generic when you get that crafting discipline. Some will not be available from the vendor until you level up. You can also use the Discovery icon and find recepies that way. Getting the ore you gather from nodes on the map, they show up on your mini map when in range. You also need to buy gathering tools from the vendor or the limitless ones off the BLTC. Another option is to purchase the ore off the BLTC. Taelac.7036
You may find this article helpful: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Weaponsmith There are also several crafting guides online that will help you level efficiently, but keep in mind that you may find you can make a small profit by going off-script if you do a little research first. You can also salvage what you craft to get back a few of the materials, which can be helpful in getting the last few levels before your next set of recipes opens up. Gathering nodes are found in various locations around the maps, with copper ore showing up in rocky areas of the Level 1-15 maps, but you have to go a couple of waypoints out from the starting point for them to show up. You can go to the other races' starter maps for more copper, if you find that mining in Caledon Forest is too slow for your liking. Materials in higher level maps require higher level gathering tools, which have character level requirements, so be sure to read the tooltips, and make sure you have tools that are made of the same material as or better than the ore found on that map. (Copper tools for copper and lettuce and green wood; Iron tools for all of those, plus iron and soft wood and strawberries, etc.)
