Changing playstyle, advice?

Hi, I usually run [Condi DPS Tempest](https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_DPS_Condition "Condi DPS Tempest"), but recently made a switch to [staff/Condi Weaver](https://qtfy.eu/guildwars/elementalist/condi-weaver/ "Staff/Condi Weaver"). On fighting for a bit in open world, I feel a little less powerful. I suppose I'm used to burn condition covering the gaps while I swap attunements and skills, and I also feel like I'm missing something due to the lack of Inferno.

 

I can easily swap back to my old build, but I've been wanting to try something new and the thought of easily switching over to staff during raids sounds heavenly. What combat changes should I keep in mind going forward to minimize the loss of DPS while I get used to the Weaver skills?

Get Shields or armor, Weaver with staff is as resiliant as wet paper.
