Boad.5246
Within the last several days I started getting the "Guild Wars 2 Game Client has stopped working" error every time I try to play on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. Previously there was no problem playing on the laptop. The crash occurs immediately after the character selection screen. I double click on a character, the splash screen for their zone comes up and after about 5-10 seconds I get the error message. I have done the following in an attempt to solve the issue: - ran "-repair" but no errors found - confirmed my Windows 10 drivers were up to date - confirmed my Dell drivers were up to date - updated to the latest GeForce driver - completely uninstalled and reinstalled GW2 - lowered the graphics setting down to best performance in GW2 options - tried running Gw2-64.exe as Administrator I'm running Windows 10 Home, i7, 16 gigs of RAM. Video card is a Nvidia GeForce 960M Any ideas on how to fix this?
Inculpatus cedo.9234
If the crash generates a Crash Report window, click 'Show Details', and post the first part (only) here on the forums. Someone may be able to offer assistance. Or, you can contact the Tech CS Team via the 'Support' link above/below, and 'Submit a Ticket' for assistance. Good luck. Boad.5246
Thank you Inculpatus. There is no Crash Report available but I'll submit a ticket.
TechAssist.4635
Is this happening only on one character, have you tried logging into other characters? You can always try and have the client force a logs: Just change the work repair to log https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201863008-Repairing-the-Game-Client _ie C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\gw2.exe” -log_

TechAssist.4635
Its intent to to create a log if possible in it next play session's crash. I will admit the way I provided it is a bit crude. Locate your Gw2.exe file. Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut. Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Log. Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Log and select Properties. Locate the Target line and add –log to the end. (Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\gw2.exe” -log) Click OK. Double-clicking Guild Wars 2 Log will begin playing your game client. The game will attempt to create a log upon a crash. To find that log please do the following: Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key. Paste in the following line: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 Click “Ok.” Locate the "Arenanet.log" (If present)
Boad.5246
**TechAssist.4635**: To answer your earlier question, yes the crash occurs on all my characters. I performed the logging procedure you described and although no "Arenanet.log" was created, I did find "Gw2.log" which provided the following: 00000526: Perf: Build 84934 00000526: Perf: 2017-12-18T08:29:14Z 00000526: Perf: Platform 1 00000543: Perf: Archive has version 1 header 00000986: Perf: Archive has version 1 header 00001816: Perf: Deleted 0 old files. 00001881: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI_Host.exe 00001882: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI64.dll 00002205: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:15.816306 [12356:6424:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pak Some features may not be available. 00002205: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:15.817312 [12356:6424:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty() 00002714: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 7760 08:29:16.367772 [15828:12648:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pak Some features may not be available. 00002714: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 7760 08:29:16.367772 [15828:12648:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty() 00002881: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onShowLauncher 00002881: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:16.523142 [12356:6424:ERROR:render_widget_host_view_win_coherent.cc(416)] Unable to get backing store! 00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onSetPreferences 00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onSetLanguage 00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onDownloadComplete 00002968: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onPasswordHash 00011998: Debug: Connecting to auth server 34.237.20.65:6112... 00012072: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 1 00012072: Debug: Connected to auth server 34.237.20.65:6112 00012197: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012272: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012348: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012398: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012398: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012423: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00012423: Debug: Auth server returned response 0 00012423: Debug: Account login transaction result 0 00012548: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onLoginSuccess 00042511: Perf: Reported video memory exceeds the maximum supported bytes: 4294967295 00043633: Debug: Loaded 7563 precached vertex shaders in 575 ms. 00043924: Debug: Loaded 11463 precached vertex shaders in 288 ms. 00045162: Debug: CContext::SetFlag (0) 00045193: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI_Host.exe 00045194: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI64.dll 00047801: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9292 08:29:59.044979 [2392:9292:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pak Some features may not be available. 00047801: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9292 08:29:59.045480 [2392:9292:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty() 00047847: Debug: Preallocated 31296KB of index and vertex buffers. 00048065: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:01.716156 [13288:12300:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pak Some features may not be available. 00048065: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:01.716156 [13288:12300:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty() 00063798: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00063798: Debug: Auth server returned response 0 00063968: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00063968: Debug: Auth server returned response 0 00064292: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 4 00064665: Debug: MapLoader: Completed STATE_LOAD_CONTENT 00064688: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:18.322804 [3028:15664:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pak Some features may not be available. 00064688: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:18.322804 [3028:15664:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty() 00064710: Debug: MapLoader: Completed STATE_LOAD_MANIFEST 00064822: Debug:
TechAssist.4635
This is sadly the wrong log. A crash log would look something like this. *--> Crash <--* Assertion: Particular crash type File: Target Location App: Client Pid: xxxx Cmdline: Any command lines used. Module: Possible conflicting file BaseAddr: xxxxxxx ProgramId: xxx Build: xxxxx When: 2017-12-18T00:00:00Z 2017-12-18T00:00:00+00:00 Uptime: 0 days 0:00:00 Flags:

I have submitted a ticket and in addition to running Support's GameAdvisor.exe and sending them the results, they have now also requested the GW2.log and ArenaNet.log "if present." If anyone has any other ideas I am all ears.

Did you end up figuring out a solution? I have the same issue now.

Dragonweaver.7951
I am having the same issue here. The game client stopped working, the game closes . Crashes repeatedly today, fine yesterday. No error codes to give you. If you find a solution let me know.
Kidd.4061
Hello there, had the same issue as you guys since the last patch ( 9 january i guess ? ). I had arcdps installed on the computer into Guild wars 2 -> Bin64 . Simply delete all concerned files ( dl39 something / dl39 arcdps ) and it should work fine. arcdps doesnt seem to work with the new patch yet. EDIT : assuming you're running arcdps or another dpsmeter. Other people had exactly the same issue, all had arcdps installed, and all stopped having the error when they deleted the files. MrMojoRisin.7364
after over a week of almost no problems, last night was pretty bad. also, not sure if related or not, but yesterday i had a lot of the "picnic-blanket" terrain going on where the graphics file hasn't loaded correctly and it's all white and red splotches.
