Your suggestion has been made many times before, and while i do not see the harm in it, it's not the same as steal. Prior to the change, a stolen object prevented you from using steal unless you purposely wasted the ability beforehand, which is a clunky mechanic to have.

shroud swap would've been nice /F1 to enter F2 to swap from death to reaper and vice versa
