Mesmer quickness

Once this new balance patch hits for Mesmer, I have to ask. What will happen to quickness, especially for raids?

 

I noticed one line of the alacrity change being that it will replace quickness on tides of time. If you're a raider you tend to rely on that skill quite heavily to keep 100% quickness uptime.

**Alacrity Uptime ROUGH Estimates**

 

Assumptions:

* SoI and Illusionary Insp do 1s of Alacrity each

* Tides of Time does 1s of Alacrity each direction

* Standard Dom/Insp/Chrono Build

* 100% Boon Duration

 

Without Alacrity

* WoR - 5s + 2s @ 35s CD = 14/35 = 40%

* WoA - 2s @ 25s CD = 4/25 = 16%

* WoE - 2s @ 30s CD = 4/30 = 13.33%

* ToT - 1s x2 @ 30s CD = 4/30 = 13.33%

* SoI - 1s @ 24s CD = 2/24 = 8.33%

* Ill.Insp - 1s @ 24s CD = 2/24 = 8.33%

* Chrono Shift - 15s total @ 95s CD = 30/95 = 31.58%

Total Uptime - 130.91%

 

@ 25% alacrity

* WoR - 5s + 2s @ 28s CD = 14/28 = 50%

* WoA - 2s @ 20s CD = 4/20 = 20%

* WoE - 2s @ 24s CD = 4/24 = 16.67%

* ToT - 1s x2 @ 24s CD = 4/24 = 16.67%

* SoI - 1s @ 19.2s CD = 2/19.2 = 10.42%

* Ill.Insp - 1s @ 19.2s CD = 2/19.2 = 10.42%

* Chrono Shift - 15s total @ 76s CD = 30/76 = 39.47%

Total Uptime - 103.05%

 

@ 25% alacrity

* WoA - 4s @ 20s CD = 8/20 = 40%

* SoI - 3s @ 19.2s CD = 6/19.2 = 31.25%

* Ill.Insp - 3s @ 19.2s CD = 6/19.2 = 31.25%

* Chrono Shift - 10s total @ 76s CD = 20/76 = 26.32%

Total Uptime - 128.82%

 

@ 25% alacrity w/ TimeWarp

* WoA - 4s @ 20s CD = 8/20 = 40%

* SoI - 3s @ 19.2s CD = 6/19.2 = 31.25%

* Ill.Insp - 3s @ 19.2s CD = 6/19.2 = 31.25%

* Chrono Shift - 22s total @ 76s CD = 44/76 = 57.89%

Total Uptime - 160.39%

Just because I am not sure how this works, will seize the moment be a strong pick ? I mean with 3 illusions, does it add one 4 stacks of 1 seconds or 1 stack of 4sec?

In both cases, since chronophantasma is less interesting, shattering before SOI could be a good option to ease the rota and/or reduce the boon duration needed, right?

I think it will be.

 

The whole point of the update is to encourage shatter, instead of just summoning illusions and afk.

 

Now you can shatter to gain quickness and alacrity and share them with SoI.

I'm considering running chronomancer runes.

 

Using giver or harrier gear you can reach about 85% (using some exotic gear + doubloons). If you run chaos you can reach 100%.

 

Now worth nothing that this is assuming you do not intend to use concentration sigil (I didn't want to spend the 33 gold on the sigil nor deal with the weapon swap rotation). If you run that you can avoid chaos or use fewer harrier/ giver's gear.

 

Using Giver's/ harrier's gear gives you to use the sigil of water to give you just a little ability to heal as well.

Chronomancer runes only give quickness to yourself, so it is not a good usage of runes (boon duration is much better).

 

I probably will use seize the moment over chronophantasma. Once you get the beginning quickness down, its not difficult to maintain it with SoI, WoA and trait SoI.

 

If anything, the raid comp will probably have one chrono running Time Warp while other run Moa.

All the more reason to not have removed quickness from ToT in my opinion. That is assuming that your assumptions are relatively accurate however

My assumptions are probably not at all accurate, but I'm just trying to point out that the sky is indeed not falling and permanent quickness and alacrity are very likely going to still be possible post-patch.
