Zedek.8932 Posted February 19, 2018 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Yep, coil whine can come in funny variations and what you describe is a (non-harmful) fault of your graphic card. When you are on the map screen, nothing's getting rendered, but just drawn, so you get no whine there. Funny though, with every graphic card, the coil whine behaviour might change: My GTX670 whined while in DirectDraw (2D) but was fine in Direct3D (3D rendering) My GTX970 was the other way round My GTX1080 does not whine anymore at all. ParanoidKami.2867 Posted February 19, 2018 Share Posted February 19, 2018 I've had coil whine before, but it was only in a certain game in an area where my fps went ridiculously high. Try messing with your settings to see if different loads can get rid of it. Also, check to make sure it's really coil whine and not some faulty fan.
