The NA servers aren't down. Your DNS is possibly outdated. You can try a different login server using the option:

-authsrv 34.237.20.65

... or for EU:

-authsrv 35.158.175.20

Note that you have to login through the region your account is registered to, as shown under account.guildwars2.com. NA is auth1.101.arenanetworks.com. EU is auth2.101.arenanetworks.com. Lookup other IPs with cmd.exe > nslookup auth1.101.arenanetworks.com 8.8.8.8

If that fails, use a VPN.

Thanks for the info Healix, but it doesn't appear to be DNS related. I get the same lookup result using my ISP and Google.

C:\Windows\system32>nslookup auth1.101.arenanetworks.com.

Server: dns-cust.cha.bigpond.net.au

Address: 61.9.211.33

Non-authoritative answer:

Name: auth1.101.arenanetworks.com

Addresses: 34.236.133.94

34.194.154.37

34.237.20.65

34.225.225.173

34.235.245.105

C:\Windows\system32>nslookup auth1.101.arenanetworks.com. 8.8.8.8

Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com

I'm assuming you're registered to NA. Try opening the page http://34.237.20.65/, which should be a simple text page with ArenaSrv on the bottom. If you can't access that, try http://34.198.207.96/, which is an IIS splash page.

If you can access the first, you can access the login server, so something's blocking the actual login. Try launching the game on port 80 or 443:

-authsrv 34.237.20.65 -clientport 80

If you can't access the first, but can the second, then you can access the servers, but the login server is blocking you. Use a VPN in the US.

If you can't access either, the route between you and the servers is likely down. Use a VPN in the US.

I can't access the first (HTTP 404), but I can access the second (IIS splash).

Hey! having this issue too. Just wanted to say thank you for putting in time to help us here! I've already tried a dns flush and a VPN from US east (I'm in the UK). I'm a little lost on how I might try launching the game via a different port (this i where my technical know-how ends hehe). Where would I put -authsrv 34.237.20.65 -clientport 80 into, etc? Thanks!

It should be a 404, which your browser may show its own 404 page instead. If you weren't able to connect, it'd timeout, so something's blocking GW2's actual login attempt. If -clientport 443 doesn't work, you'll need to use a VPN in the US.

Thanks Healix, I realised after I posted that 404 was a valid response. :) Specifying a client port 80 or 443 doesn't help so VPN appears to be the only option. Thanks for the assistance.

Same issue, same error. Seems something got implemented last night - a micro patch of some sorts? Definitely haven't made any changes on my side since last night. Playing from UK on eu servers. VPN is sadly not an option (nor it should be treated as a standard solution, imho). If anyone is having similar issues, please report it here.
