Returning from a long break question.

Should I purchase the two expansions or do I wait until I finish Core Game first? I have a Ranger L36 and a Nec, Guard, and Ele all @ L13 . So what level will I really need HoT and PoF. Thanks for the info.

Hey, you'll need to be level 80 to play the expansions, but (especially for HoT) upgrading your equipment to exotic level is probably needed as well, since the expansions are mostly 'endgame' content.

 

Since the pre-oder is now over it doesn't change anything if you buy the expansions right now - there are no benefits to be gained.

 

Edit: I just remebered that both expansions come with an lvl80-boost item, so you could push your character to max level and try to jump into the expansion(s). I would advise against that however, as you'll be lacking the experience & gear to stand a chance in expansions. If you have friends/a guild it work for PoF though (which they will now be playing anyway).

you also have to buy the living story packs from the trading post gem store that you might not have if you not played living story at all . as you need to play living story to unlock mastery points that come from doing living story good luck

check the trading post under account upgrades for the living story packs . to see how many gems you need to buy if you not played any of the living story at all yet . and also too crafting will help you get some gold. so you can convert gems to gold that way to get the living story packs . good luck

As a returning player, if your player are more than 1+ years old, you should have received anet birthday gift which includes level up scrolls that will help you reach lvl 80 asap.

I'd honestly just take it slow and play through the game. If you quit the game without even having a level 80, i'd say your investment and interest in this game is probably too low to merit dropping that kind of money on both expansions when you haven't even completed the core. I know it's difficult, but it's probably best for you to not get caught up in the hype rush and enjoy the content that you've barely even touched.
