80 boost Mesmer - [HELP] Build to farm HP

I played mesmer to about level 10 and was loving greatsword. I decided to boost it (likely without learning to play properly) and am having survivability issues. The boost puts you in all solider exotics and with a GS and Sword/Pistol. I've been looking for archived builds that I can use while farming for Mirage and Condi gear, but I'm having trouble finding any that don't list one of the elite specs. Could a kind soul point me in the right direction? TIA

Mesmer is one of the harder classes to play since its designed around you actively rotating through defensive skills to mitigate incoming damage. Add to that, it's probably the slowest killing class among the vanilla professions and it's going to be rough for a new player learning the ropes against level 80 mobs.

 

For a new player that wants to use Greatsword+Sword/X with just vanilla traits, I'd recommend the following:

Memer is huge butthurt to play pve alone . Even if u spec for DPS mirage you would still suffer greatly from being squishy if you take damage... I would advice to bring some friends/random ppl that help ,just not solo xD

This build is going to dunk on most hero points. I just went through hot and farmed pretty much all of the champions except Mushroom Queen.

 

Use staff chaos fields and leaps to keep protection up. Spam phantasms and kite around. If they have projectiles use feedback. Easy, breezy, beautiful covergirl.

Why don't you just join an HP train and unlock chrono first?

 

Nonetheless:

1. get some cheap berserker gear. The soldiers stuff you get from the boost is terrible for any kind of gameplay.

2. use sword/sword instead of pistol. Sword offhand has one of the most powerful damaging abilites and a nice def/CC, too. GS as a ranged option is ok.

3. don't listen to those guys telling you that mesmer is difficult to play. It's not!

 

This is basically the standard power chronomancer build, just with inspiration instead of chrono trait, also giving you a bit more survivability:

I boosted my mesmer to 80 too and immediately switched to chrono and i have absolutely no trouble in open world with the standard power chrono build. It feels like a walk in the park, compared to my squishy weaver.
