I'm getting exception: c0000005 memory error

The game was working fine 2 days ago. I logged in today and I keep getting "exception: c0000005 memory at address 00000000`02000fd0 could not be read". My 1080ti did a driver update yesterday, could that be it?

Any help would be great thanks

Been hearing the newest drivers from Nvidia have been having trouble with gw2. (version 398.11) if you got them you can try rolling back your drivers and see if that fixes it.

Well, that's where it crashes. There are two things I'd advise, since that DLL has ... intimate relations, shall we say, with the graphics drivers:

1. Grab the [DirectX 9 Redistributable package](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109) and install it.

2. Reinstall your video drivers and/or upgrade to the latest.

Those are the most likely candidates to fix whatever is going wrong here. If you have any third party stuff that gets into the rendering pipeline, though, including ArcDPS, ReShade, gw2hook, VoIP client overlays, the Steam overlay, etc, try disabling them too.

So, it's like "the shortcut key for is alt-F4", "the solution to your problem is to delete `c:\windows\system`" is advice that is destructive if followed, and the sort of thing that ... well, you know the sort of people who think that is hilarious, I'm sure, if you have played computer games, like, ever. Presumably they expected this to be the same thing.

No, I wasn't aware. I was only pointing out that the Crash Report was pointing, exactly, to where the issue was.

I suppose I should not assume that people would Google how to fix such errors.
