Omnicron.2467
Saw the Guild Wars 1 sale advertised today for Steam. 50% off! https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=ArenaNet%C2%AE Two things puzzle me: 1. Why is the non-steam versions not on sale? The ones on the GW website http://store.guildwars.com/store/gw/cat/categoryID.67871700 2. For me there is a big price difference when converting to ZAR, the steam version of EOTN on sale is R65, but even the non-sale version is only R130, whereas buying it from the official store would cost me R270. Why is it so much more when buying it directly?
Inculpatus cedo.9234
Because it is a Steam sale, and not an ArenaNet sale? I don't think Steam buy the licenses piecemeal, but rather makes a deal to distribute and then gives Arenanet ~70% of whatever the license is sold for. Thus, Steam can set whatever price they like. That's my guess, anyway.
