My once level 80 character is now level 5

I haven't logged in for a long time. Several years. My character _was_ level 80. I had explored the entire map, all sorts of level 80 stuff, etc. Upon installing and logging in yesterday, my main character is level 5 with absolutely NOTHING explored on the map, just the starting area. I have all of the achievements from playing previously... what gives? Was there some major event that happened that wiped characters off of their servers or something? I am also missing a character that was like level 20 as well.

Perhaps, your account was compromised, and your characters deleted.

I had considered that possibility but the character is the same name and looks the same.
