Please ANet. that is the only problem. Without it, the firebrand gets a measly 33k on the golem. Don't touch the rest of the specialization when the 'problem' can so easily be identified.

If anet sees this, and you guys ARE planning a nerf, please let it just be to remove 1 stack of Ashes of the Just per application (3->2 from tome, 2->1 from trait).

The OP is right, everything I see points to Ashes of the Just being the biggest culprit to our huge dps parses. Hopefully anet does see this and other reactions from guardians and makes the right changes to bring the DPS in line with most classes.

Yes, Ashes of the Just is the offender. Without traiting Ashes of the Just, I got 28k DPS on golem with realistic buffs. The trait adds like 4k DPS per target.

I'll throw in some pvp/wvw perspective:

 

If I throw in my typical burst combo on an unsuspecting player (ToJ--> 5--> JI-->4-->2-->mantra of truth), I can easily rack up 14-22 stacks of burn depending on how much the opponent dodges. Can maintain that 20+ for another 5 seconds unless they gtfo quick or condi cleanse. If I do that same combo minus ToJ 5, the burn stacks are somewhere between 8-16 which I don't think is terrible at all.

 

I think this provides some evidence that the elite spec as a whole isn't terribly overpowered in pvp settings either, so the same nerf could be used for all game modes.
