Redeeming IG-6417??

Recommended Posts

There are, in my opinion, a few serious issues with this Collection achievement (Redeeming IG-6417). In order to get the ascended back piece, you have to get a series of recordings. There are multiple issues with this:

1. You have to do the Domain of Vabbi meta - been on for hours over the past several days, and the maps never seems to do it. Have checked Looking for Group as well. No luck

2. You have to complete the Sandswept Isle meta so that you can do the fishing event. That, too, seems to never be done.

3. The one I am inexplicably not been able to do is the event ["Stop the Zaishen from desecrating the Temple of Kormir"](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_the_Zaishen_from_desecrating_the_Temple_of_Kormir ) event in the Crystal Oasis. This event NEVER seems to spawn. Ever. There doesn't appear to be a trigger for it. It either happens or it doesn't.

Specifically, with #3 - does anyone have any ideas?

Serpent's Ire (Vabbi Meta) is done by OC once a week on EU servers and they barely (if ever) fail it.

Sandswept Isles does not require more than ten players so if you have a tag, light that lamp up and set up a LFG - people will join eventually from my experience.

Can't say anything about the temple of Kormir event, never seen that either.

Interesting. That's the problem. OC does it once a week. The meta spawns every 1.5-2 hours - so several times a day. Let's say 12 times a day. That means in a week the meta spawns 84 times - it's done once? That's not good. The PoF maps seem deserted.

Have done that event like 4 times in the last few days when trying to kil a specific bounty boss. Have seen it spawn quite often when i were near that waypoint before as well.

I do fully agree on Serpent's Ire meta. Outside of the gw2community run it is generally not being done, because it usually cannot be organized by random pug squads.

Yeah, the Serpent's isle one is nuts. And when you tie collections to a meta on a deserted map, that's a problem. Bad design.

Though, the Zaishen event spawned a couple of times for me, then bugged out. Finally, one spawned just now and I got the recording. Strange. No pattern to when it starts. No seeming trigger. Very sloppy. Seems random.

There was someone today standing around for a very long time at the Temple, not doing events there and waiting for the Zaishen to show up. And they never would have; you need to do events around there to trigger it. There are four/five events linked to the Temple of Kormir and at least two sets of events I know are in a chain, so it's not too much of a stretch to think the defending the temple event is also in one. From my understanding, it's the event where refugees travel to the southern way station that is the trigger for the Zaishen attack, just as the event where you aid the priest from the northern way station is the trigger for the forged attack on the Village of Kweli.

Hope that helps.

That was probably me. Unfortunately, the wiki does not mention any pre-events at all. I think I will edit that page to show you need to do some (all?) of the other events around it.

Yeah. That's my issue. Right now, in LFG, there are a bunch of groups for the HoT maps. One (for Seneb) on the PoF maps. People have complained before that the PoF maps are virtually dead. When you tie ascended item collections to dead-ish maps, you have a problem. Anet needs to do something: increase meta rewards, etc. Or, and this would be my personal fav - change what is required to get the recordings - no metas required.

The Zaishen event might be part of a chain but the earlier ones are probably not getting done. I guess there isn't enough interest in that part of the game for the research to happen.

This would also explain why it feels like the event used to pop up more often. Back around launch there would naturally have been more random people around doing those. Especially the long unrewarding escort events.

As someone who has completed the golem backpiece recently I have to say:

- Serpent's Ire is best done with one of the big PvE teams like GW2 community

- Sandwswept isles meta is fairly easy and u can attract players from your map quickly

- Temple of kormir has 2 events - defend the village and stop the zaishen that usually come one after the other

I don't think it does no, but almost every event in the game is linked in some way to another event, either before or after it. In Central Tyria most events that are linked are fairly obvious; in so much as they're telling a story about the local goings on or the like. The events around the Temple of Kormir do similarly, though they're a bit less obvious.

In truth now I think about it a little more, perhaps there was a missed opportunity here for development: They could have had the Temple of Kormir have it's own meta (i.e. a heading and current event/meta status on our UI like all meta have), this would better give an idea of just what's going on around the temple, especially providing light on those events at the Southern and Northern Way Station that are not as obvious. It also could include the final event/s at the Crucible of Consecration; perhaps the most difficult event to complete in Crystal Oasis, but again one that is completed rarely due to few knowing about it.

Anyways, I've drifted off topic. I hope those that are looking for this event are now better able to find/complete it.

In my experience, to trigger the Temple of Kormir event you need to:

- First go to the Northern Way Station and help a dolyak transport to reach the village of Kweli on the temple's bridge. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Priest_Bashshar_get_healers_and_medical_supplies_to_refugees_at_the_Temple_of_Kormir

- Defend Kweli from a nasty forged attack. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defend_the_village_of_Kweli_from_the_Forged

- Then wait for the Zaishen attack on the Temple. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_the_Zaishen_from_desecrating_the_Temple_of_Kormir

In the wiki the events doesn't appear linked, but in my own investigation of this, I got the attack to happen after a few minutes every time I properly Defend Kweli. Retaking Kweli never spawned the Zaishen event. And just waiting never started anything.

Be careful: the transport event is fairly easy, but the defense of the village can scale quite a bit just because people pass through (It failed for me many times). Its better to make a call on the map chat. Then you'll have to be patient for the Zaishen one, because it doesn't spawns in short notice like the Kweli one.

That exact same thing happened to me just last night.

This should NOT be intended behavior. You CANNOT turn in the Medical Aid Recording before you turn in the Vanquish Branded Recording. I know this for certain because I tried. I did all the other events, got all the other recordings, before I was able to find a successful Serpent's Ire. I turned in what the golem would accept, which was only about 8 of them, and those 8 did not include Medical Aid. I've been running around with 12 recordings in my bags that I can't turn in.

So during the boss fight part of Serpent's Ire, I revived a downed player and got a duplicate Medical Aid Recording, which ate the last recording device in my inventory. When the event finished, I could not receive a Vanquish Branded Recording because the game ate my last recording device to give me a duplicate Medical Aid Recording. In other words, I helped another player and got kittened.

There is no indication anywhere that you can receive duplicate recordings. You don't find out until it happens.

There is no indication anywhere that you will need more than 21 recording devices.

This means players have to remember NEVER EVER REPEAT AN EVENT IN REDEEMING IG-6417 BEFORE COMPLETION UNLESS YOU'VE GOT EXTRA RECORDING DEVICES. And for kitten sure do not help other players while fighting the bosses in Serpent's Ire if you only have one device left.

That is, frankly, stupid.

I did put in a customer service ticket begging that the duplicate Medical Aid Recording be replaced with the Vanquish Branded Recording THAT I EARNED AND DIDN'T RECEIVE. So we'll see.

Update: Anet got back to me. I'd laugh if I weren't ready to cry.

After "thoroughly researching" the matter, they refuse to help me because the way to get the recording is to have a recording device in my inventory when I defeat Ysshi Hessani and Pek Rakt Grag.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS DOING, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!! I had a recording device in my inventory when the event began. A GAME BUG ATE IT so that now I have two Medical Aid Recordings.

Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. I EARNED that Vanquish Branded Recording. I hear people in the game laugh all the time about petitioning to get gem refunds because something they bought went on sale the next day, and Anet accommodates them on that. But I can't get an item I EARNED?

I realize that nothing I do or say will change Anet's mind. But once more, they have proven that their customer service stinks.
