Shoulder armour skin customizability

Would it be at all possible to create a feature that allows us to disable just 1 of the shoulderpads. I.e. turning off just the left 1 for example. Some skins would look great on just on side and others have 1 side looking better than the other.

 

P.s. obviously certain skins such as the scarf would not have the option

Since shoulder pieces are a single item. I don't think that would be possible without completely reworking their functionality.
