Connection and ping issues

Recommended Posts

I've returned to Guild Wars 2 after a while, and suddenly the game is unplayable due to high ping.

Other games work fine, and guild wars works fine on another computer on the same network, so I've got no clue what the issue is, considering I uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

The diagnostics thing looks like this

This thread is many days old but I have run diagnostics too and it starts losing 100% packages at xx.xx.xx.ncsoft.com and xx.xx.xx.amazon-com.xe-... addresses, so I guess it must be server-side (the addresses related to my ISP have minimum ~5% loss, expected due to being in Brazil). I recommend filling a support ticket with your .log file in it.

I have had a ticket open for a couple of days now that I have been going back and forth with a support rep about. I have run all their tests. I have close to the same results as above. Their answer was to change the DNS to something that was not realted to my ISP (xfinity). It helped initially with Story Instances, but did not help at all with me being in a squad. After that it was, "well it must be something with your ISP". Not much of a work around. I'm hoping that all this will change when they patch our the Halloween content, but I guess all I can do is wait and see :(

You can see the same kind of issues in these posts :

After the most recent patch things have seemed to go back to normal. For what it's worth, I followed everything that GM Lightybug had me do. It didn't help initially and it sort of came back to Xfinity being dumb and blocking me from changing my DNS. I'm still in contact with support and we aren't going to close the ticket until after the Halloween content has gone away for good. I was surprised at how nice they have been. They didn't treat me like I was an idiot like some other support companies have done in the past.

I hope that things work out for everyone. If things revert back to being crappy, I'll post again here.
