Consistent disconnects

Hi there,

I've recently been in touch with customer support about my issue but I have not been able to fix it yet.

I'm getting this problem where I get disconnected & reconnected into the game. It happens really quickly so I don't actually get logged out of the game but I can tell that I've been disconnected because my guild message resets in chat along with my friends online notification. There are moments where I actually get the server error and it takes me to the character slot.

Troubleshoot I've done so far (some suggested by CS):

- Repair/Clean reinstall of client

- Clean install of my Windows 10 (I'm running bootcamp on my MacBook Pro solely for GW2)

- Re-installation of my WiFi drivers

- Check for any firewall (specifically allowed GW2 through firewall)

- Deleting the "local.dat" file

- Creating a shortcut of the application then changing the target line to the IP suggested by CS

- Adding the GW2 IPs in the hosts file of my System32 folder

After trying every single one of these the problem still persists. My internet works fine with all other applications and games and it just seems like GW2 is the only problem. I let CS know that the last suggested solution did not work but they haven't gotten back to me and it's been about a week or so since.

Any other help is appreciated!

have you tried using the -clientport 80 switch in the shortcut? that (or the -clientport 443) has helped a few of my friends stay connected, and was something that support did not suggest to them (surprisingly).

to use it:

**For Windows**

1. Right click on your Guild Wars 2 shortcut and select ‘Properties’.

2. In the ‘Target’ field you will see the location of your Guild Wars 2 executable file

3. Write the desired command line argument after the quote marks, beginning with a space:

right: “…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -clientport 80

wrong: “…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”-clientport 80

**For Mac**

1. Right/ctrl-click GuildWars2.app and choose ShowPackageContent

2. Find Contents>Resources>CiderSettings.plist

3. Using TextEdit find this line:

—cmdline ""

4. Add the command line arguments you want between the quotation marks like this:

—cmdline “-clientport 80”

The 64-bit version on the Mac doesn't have cider. It has, "CoherentUI_Host" which I've been having a ridiculous amount of problems with. Missing pathway and threads all messed up even being repaired.

Yeah, I've also been having many lag spikes ending in disconnects too since the expansion's release.

Never had this problem before and I've tried pretty much everything on my end (port-forwarding, firewall/anti-virus white-listing, etc) to fix it without any result, leading me to think that the problem might be on ArenaNet's end. Let's hope this gets fixed or at least acknowledged soon or at all.

Mine has been occurring about a week or two before the PoF release. The problem still persists, even thru WiFi or direct ethernet plug-in.

Seems like I can't play in my house anymore and have to go elsewhere to get a playable experience.

I'd suggest running the GW2 Diagnostic tool. You can do this by creating a shortcut to your GW2.exe, then:

1. Right click on your Guild Wars 2 shortcut and select ‘Properties’.

2. In the ‘Target’ field you will see the location of your Guild Wars 2 executable file

3. Write the desired command line argument after the quote marks, beginning with a space: "...Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -diag

This will give you a print out to a notepad that can help determine the issue.
