Joseph.6578
We're literally brand new to Fractals, and on fractal 2. A boss called Old Tom needs a fan battery charged, using tears of dwayna. Where to find them? We looked a lot of places in the instanced, , googled, checked TP, etc. They must be obvious, but..... here we stand w/o any. Shikaru.7618
Mechanic doesnt exist on fractal scale 2. Just hit the fan.
Joseph.6578
The fan doesn't operate no matter how many times we hit the interact message. Two tears spawned near the console AFTER the fight had progressed a bit, but taking them to the consoles on the sides did nothing either, including interecting with the tears on the side consoles then interacting at the main console. We'd like to get it working the way it's supposed to, rather than just killing Old Tom and moving on.
Vinceman.4572
On level 2 it's supposed to work like Shikaru has already explained. There are no tears to charge the sides and you just need to activate the fan. If that isn't working maybe you encountered a bug. Not dramatic at all since you should be able to easily survive the room with gas while you usually kill Old Tom very fast on that frac level even in non-optimized groups. From the wiki: **On fractal difficulty level 12 and higher**, players need to charge the fan batteries in the opposed two corners of the room with Tears of Dwayna manually before the fan can be turned on. It's recommended to bring at least two tears to each console, before you engage the boss.

thrag.9740
OP the others already addressed your question, and it is good for you to learn the mechanics. But, I'm just going to let you know that even at T4 fractals, it is very common to have a healer (either heal druid or heal chrono) out heal the damage in that room and just dps race it. We searched and found no tears anywhere in the area cleared so far. We clicked the fan, interacted with the fan, etc and nothing happened. At least nothing we could see or hear. We engaged the mob, and part way in (?25%) two tears appeared at the base of the fan. Two people scrambled to use them. Nothing happened at the charging stations. They died before they got back. Being somewhat distracted, we wiped. We said to h... with that, lets just kill it, and did so. It wasn't hard. The confusion with the tears spawning during the fight (wiki implied we'd skirt around the mob, pick them up and take them to the charging stations) caused mass improvisation, and a lot of discussion, never a good thing. I wrote the OP so we might learn how it was supposed to work so when it gets harder we'd know what to do. Shikaru, while helpful in the main, did not explain the part about them spawning during the fight. He also said click the fan, which we had done, but we expected something to happen, but nothing did. Again, thanks for the help. We are newbies to fractals, so have to learn the footwork and bugs. Otherwise we'd pass as decently geared and experienced. I mentioned we wiped. Two ran off fumbling with the newly found tears, one got into a discussion while reading the Wiki, and the other 2 should have killed it anyway. We kidded each other about that failure, suggesting if they'd just done their part, we'd wouldn't have to do it again. It's hard to get good help these days, even if you've played with them for years. Now that we've confessed noobishness, I expect a comment suggesting that the one reading the Wiki should have soloed it while reading the Wiki. Loboling.5293
Lately, all I see are tears of spellbreaker. I'll let you know if anything else comes up...
