Dreaded Error 7.. troubleshoot tips did nothing

Recommended Posts

So, I am having frequent and consistent disconnects and have been for about 3-5 weeks since returning to the game. Mostly happens when Zoning in/out, like entering/leaving WvW, completing a sPvP match, and most annoyingly... instanced story missions. I noticed they began shortly after returning to GW2 while I was playing WvW and hopping to different maps to roam. Every 10-15 minutes when map hopping I would load in and begin running to my destination seemingly without error, only to realize, after attempting to use a skill for Swiftness, that my game was lagging out because my abilities would just flash. After the disconnect, i'd be rolled back a good 30-40 seconds. Since that first instance of this disconnect, it has happened 5-6 times a day (depending on play time) in various areas of the game as I stated above.

The final straw was when I was trudging through PoF story line to unlock mounts and get mastery points and got to a mission that guarantees this disconnect at the end of the mission every single time. The others it was hit or miss, I managed to complete them sometimes without error, sometimes disconnecting only once, but this one disconnects at the same spot, every time. I believe it's called The Departed, where you have to reclaim your name and purpose and fight the fat soul eater to escape the domain of the lost. At the end after defeating the fat man and listing to the ramblings of the imprisoned Joko, the game disconnects after he's done talking. This has completely prevented me from progressing as upon this disconnect, I log back in to the instance marker and have to start it all over again. 5 attempts at this hoping for some luck, 5 disconnects in the same spot.

After the 3rd of these disconnects I navigated to the error 7 troubleshoot options. I proceeded to set a static IP for my router, port forward the 3 ports necessary for GW2 (80, 443, 6112) and add exceptions to my firewall and antivirus for the GW2 game client. After doing all of this, 2 more attempts of the mission ended with the same result of the prior disconnects when speaking with Joko.

I ran the ANet Diagnostic and noticed there were some 50/50 100% loss packet lines and as they were in the middle and referring to my ISP's addresses I contacted tech support and they informed me that I am experiencing no packet loss. I must have read the traceroute wrong. He sent a reboot to my router and told me to seek further help with GW2 tech support. I sent in a ticket but I'm going to post here as well in case any of my fellow players have found their own fix for this problem.

Bumping your thread won't speed up your ticket response, as the Tech Support Team doesn't really participate in the forum.

If you did not receive the near immediate automated response, check your spam/junk folder.

You can update your original ticket (don't create another) after a few days to inquire about progress.

Good luck.

They sent me the automated response to ask for diagnostic logs and crash dumps, after I sent them I got no response afterwards. I'll update the ticket, thanks.
