Arton Leirra.9760
Yup that's about it. I'm a new player, been around a few weeks now - My first character is a Necro. I picked the Necro, not to be top DPS, most viable PVP class or to secure a place in a top #10 progress guild (I have no idea if this is actually a thing) I picked Necro because I like the idea of 'dark magic' life from death, to heal through hurt. All that jazz. So far so good. I enjoy the AOE capabilities and single target abilities that I get with Axe/Warhorn + Staff. I like the minion mechanics along with signets and wells. Yes I am only doing story mode + map exploration at the moment and have only just ticked over level 60. So I know it's not particular difficult no matter what class I would use or what specialisation within that class that I choose and when I get max level, progress through fractals and start doing harder content, there may be parts of Necro that frustrate me. Hell I may even look back to this thread for a moment of #throwback. Yes I'm very naive at the moment and enjoying every minute of it  Well that's it, no punch line -
Zex Anthon.8673
I suggest you pick up Heart of Thorns to play reaper. It's easily my favorite specialization in the game and greatsword is amazing.

unbornchikken.5104
I started to play GW2 for one and half year or so by rolling a Necro. Many alts later I still main my Necro. Actually I play Reaper in every game mode, and I don't think that any other class will ever top the fun factor of that. Especially if you have minions. Luv minions. I started a necro in 2013, stopped because I liked my guardian more. I really liked the concept of reaper, but I didn't feel like leveling him up, and HPs were hard to get in early HoT (for me). I used tomes to level him up over time, but didn't understand the class at all, having only played to level four. I was on and off with my DH, and breaks got longer and more frequent. The last time I decided to play again, I forced myself to play necro, going through his story to learn. After the level 30 quest, I knew enough to go out and get the GS, and after that, I was hooked. I farmed enough points to finish the spec, and made him my main.
