Unlocking scythe skin for new character

Hi, I have just purchased a lvl 80 scythe which I plan to use with my newly rolled Necro. Can I check something: if my new character salvages this item, will he get the scythe skin so I can apply it to his staff? Or do I need to wait until lvl 80 then equip it. Many thanks for any answers.

Skins are unlocked account wide. You will require 1 transmutation charge to apply the skin (unless it is a store bought skin which comes with a 1 time free application).

 

Skins are level unrelated but are subject to weapon type (you can't apply a sword skin to an axe for example).

Yup! Salvaging an item automatically unlocks its skin for your account!

For many items, salvaging unlocks the skin. When in doubt, you can always right-click and choose 'Add to Wardrobe' (or whatever it says exactly) before salvaging.
